Why the press can't tell the truth ?
About Bush and the Republican radicals? They are so out of the mainstream of anything they have ever reported politically. For 50 years they have lived in a cocoon of comfortable tale-swapping and back-slapping Washington. They simply do not know how to report on this bunch of radicals. They cannot admit to themselves that this bunch of "politicians" is really different from all the rest they have ever reported on. But, they are.

So, they report the news as if this is just another breed of the same they have always reported on. They do not see the destruction because they choose to not see the destruction. They do not see the criminality because they choose not to see it. They do not see the lies and propaganda because they do not believe any politician or Party would resort to such tactics. It just isn't done.

So they cover their ears and eyes and report the surface story but never get to the facts or the truth. Because of their refusal to see the reality right before their eyes in an honest and factual way, they are permitting the destruction of 100 years of work for the American people. Be it Social Security, world respect, social progress for all our citizens, fiscal responsibility, and even respect for our Constitution. They are all being torn down right before our eyes.

1. That's about it.
Journalism has never been a profession that paid well.

Understand that they owe their souls to the company store.

3. Bush is friendly to corporations...
... including media corporations. News doesn't matter now. It's about money, that's all.

Take money off the table, and they'd be at Bush's throat. Remember, Sumner Redstone, owner of Viacom/CBS, said that despite the fact that he'd been a long-time Democrat, Bush was better for media corporations, and he would put his weight behind Bush....

4. I fear you are too kind to the press
You make them sound like well-intentioned but bamboozled reporters, instead of the bought-and-paid-for corporate whores that they are.

5. Regardless, they are corporate whores...
intentional or otherwise. Because they are afraid to tell the truth. Surely they know.

Who was that guy who couldn't even quite bring himself to call Bush a LIAR, in spite of all the overwhelming evidence day after day...some dude who said he'd "made the case for change" even though he could never quite bring himself to describe the Gangsters he wanted to replace...anyway.

9. Very true....
Many of them cannot come to grips with what is happening, in my opinion. No one would dare to be so reckless and daring, at least not cautious politicians. But they had better wake up soon.
