Time for liberals to take the bags off their heads.
The DLC`s latest anti-liberal manifesto should be proof positive that liberal Democrats should hold a bake sale and use the proceeds for a Roto-Rooter operation in Washington. I thought I`d heard the worst from Al From`s cesspool last year when his memo called us "liberal elitists" and said we all drove Volvos and wore Birkenstocks. If His Excellency, Mr. From, would simply consult a dictionary, he would realize that his description of liberalism is like Limbaugh`s. Ignorant and wrong.

I can`t imagine Gandhi salivating over Rumsfeld`s new mini-nukes. I can`t imagine Mother Theresa saying she`d help only insured sick people. I can`t imagine Jesus looking over Cheney`s shoulder helping him divvy up Iraq`s oilfields. And, while we`re on the subject, I can`t imagine the Pope cheering over America`s bulging prisons. I can imagine all of them taking a look at this country...this world...and saying, "Houston, we have a problem."

I`m proud to be a liberal and I`m proud of our principles. We believe in progress, reform, tolerance. We believe in the individual. We believe our natural resources should be cherished. We believe in fairness. We believe those among us who have the least should have a voice. We believe in diplomacy and so much more. What`s not to like?

It`s unfortunate that we`ve allowed the concept of liberalism to be sullied so and become the subject of ridicule and scorn. Next time you see one of those WHO WOULD JESUS BOMB? bumperstickers, stop and think about it for a minute. Don`t let Al From, Rush Limbaugh or anyone else make you feel like you have to apologize for standing up for what`s right and good. Stand up and say you`re not going to take it anymore.

3. Agreed. They only make the word Liberal bad
if you allow it. Don't be a slave to their ideals, words, thoughts - ever!

4. I have that sticker
near my Kerry stickers that are still on my car. MY reasoning behind it is to expose the hypocracy of it all. Jesus spoke of all those things that you just mentioned, and so my question to every whack-job Fundie has been simply "Who would Jesus bomb?" and most of them say (well, yell anyways) "He wouldn't bomb ANYONE!!!" to which point I simply nod and walk away, thus exposing their blind obedience to a warmongering president that is pimping out the beliefs of a truely benevolent prophet.

btw, I am not christian at all. I'm quite agnostic, thank you very much... if anything, I'd be a buddhist or something. :-)

7. No, the centrist wing of the Republican party.
They don't want to be Democrats, and they're trying to talk the rest of us out of being Democrats.

The party that does the correct thing will get my vote. I don't care what labels people use. The DLC are trying to please the Republicans; maybe they'll get Republican votes.

6. Does it ever make you wonder why we, here at DU, still
support the Dems? Only a few really adhere to our beliefs and progressive thoughts.

They are bound by corporatism and a media who will not advance what the dem's agenda ought to be because it would be not in the best interest of the media owners and investors.

8. Labels.
The label alone does not make me support people. If they don't act like Democrats, they don't have my support. That probably applies to many people here.

9. "What`s not to like?"
The crap we get blamed for: rampant promiscuous television, condom education, no prayer in public school, abortion on demand, no ten commandments in public courts, no gay bashing, welfare moms, rampant illegals immigrants, and taxes.

Nevermind that the promiscuity and blatant sexual situational TV is viewed most by the radical right and promoted by the media corporations that want us dumb and oversexed so that we buy other corporations useless products. . Nevermind that condom education will prevent the spread of STD's amongst their own children that "do it" anyway because of their rebellion against their radical right parents. Nevermind that the radical right wants the educators to be the religion teachers because they are failing miserably at home, since kids know hypocrisy when they hear it. Nevermind that abortion rates decrease whenever the least among us gets sex education in school since the radical right parent doesn't have a clue on how to talk about it with their own kids. Nevermind that the Ten Commnandments have been in many public places throughout our history and the crime rate is higher than ever because there are more poorand there is more injustice. Nevermind that the homosexuality has been around forever in all species of life and that it never increases or decreases in rate. Nevermind that those who collect welfare would much rather be working for a decent minimum wage rather then the insulting five bucks an hour. Nevermind that immigrants are pouring into this country because OUR policies in their own country keep them impoverished. Nevermind that taxes are what citizens of first world developed countries pay in order to have good public education, fireman, policemen, paved roads, public hospitals, traffic lights, clean water, garbage pick up and all the other things the radical right takes for granted.

Other than all that, every republican would vote democrat since the radical right hijacked and perverted the traditional republican agenda which is now being advocated by the Democrats!
