I watched the movie Primary Colors today (for like the 10th time). But anyway, it got me thinking about whether the message of the movie is correct or not.
For those of you who have not seen it, the movie is basically about fictional presidential candidate Governor Jack Stanton whose character and campaign is pretty much based on Bill Clinton. Anyway, the central message of the movie is that while Jack Stanton is a smooth talker, tells a little lie once in a while, and does dirty opposition research on his opponents, he is a good man who wants to get elected to do good things for working class people.
So here's the question I want to ask everybody here on DU. Should we support people like Jack Stanton who live within the political system but still want to do good things for the American people when they get elected, or should we support people who don't play dirty politics so that we can better the political system as well as our government.
