Excellent article SLAMMING the media for its conduct on the Schiavo matter
http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA513102.html?display=Search+Results&text=%22fox+news%22&referral=SUPP

for full article. It speaks for itself and so true.

here's an excerpt:

Terri Shiavo’s predicament has existed for years but, for the media, the literal life-and-death struggle is impossible to resist. To jaded media-watchers, however, she is just more fodder—easiest to cover by not straying too far from the emotional argument.

The television and radio news media have by now nurtured the Us versus Them story so completely, it is not difficult to come up with medical experts with political agendas, or religious leaders who also have theirs. Roving bands of pundits travel the TV carny circuit at times like this, and even the stars at the center of the controversy show up everywhere

....

The plight of Terri Schiavo would be sad enough if there had been no media coverage. But as she evolved into a media plaything, her situation became sadder than it was before. If the question was ever about Terri Schiavo dying with dignity, her opportunity to do so ended last week, right on your TV set.

so true. shame on the tabloid mongers we have for media!

1. I would not want to die with a circus of tv trucks, cameras, lights,
and over-enthusiastic mouths promoting and accomdating hyterical evangelicals outside my window and broadcasting it all over the world.

2. Lawyers/Doctors Licenses
Will any of the `experts' who gave misleading information be held accountable?

I guess misleading the whole country into a frenzy and giving false hope to a family you've never met is different than mis-diagnosing one patient. Will malpractice insurance rates go up now that we know how many quacks are out there?

5. oh, you mean like Bill 'video doc' Frist?
and that bit of political pandering he and DeLay and the other neothugs put on?

Yes, I would love nothing more than to see them all held accountable for acting like emotionally disturbed third-graders on crack, but since that seems to be the vogue these days, I really doubt it's gonna happen.

6. Unfortunatly lying on TV is not a crime
If it were, there are some people who would be doing life sentences.

9. Look at the subscript on the Faux News one.
Here the pundits are discussing something that is none of our business; meanwhile someone or something is planning to attack Shi'ite Muslims (en masse, I gather) in Karbala, which is DEFINATELY our business since our tax money is funding this illegal war. :eyes:

an after thought and fluff rules the airwaves and cable. Talk about losing the forest for the trees.

I've pretty much given up on these clowns. I've been a frequent visitor of BBC world news lately. Good stuff. I learn a lot.

These news organizations here in America have become so crippled by an addiction to tabloid sensationalism for ratings that they've completely lost they're ability to think and use good judgement.

The irony is that you won't hear about this huge problem on TV because...it's them! They are the problem and refuse to acknowledge it. Bias is irrelevant when they're not even credible.

7. even Canadian TV is starting it..
Up to now, they've been very evenhanded in their coverage of the Schiavo story, but this morning Heather Hiscox seemed momentarily emotional as she reported that some member of the family was saying Ms. Schaivo was "fighting HARD". I don't fault her, it must be hard to be on death watch with all of those other reporters around, but her emotion seemed a little misplaced to this viewer.

11. I agree, I am disappointed with our Canadian media
on this issue. Up until the last two days, the coverage has been even-handed and appropriate given the termoil it is causing in the US but now it seems to have caught the 'minute by minute' voyeurism of the US media. I can only hope they come to their senses VERY soon.
