Regime change horseshit - SHAME ON LIEBERMAN!!!!!
Edited on Thu Jan-22-04 09:22 PM by Valjean
It's bad enough that the pundits try to shift the focus of Iraq. Now Lieberman is doing it.

Yeah, regime change was US policy during the Clinton administration. But regime change has been US policy in Cuba for 50 years. So far we haven't invaded.

So having a "policy" of regime change doesn't mean shit. Invading a country has REAL consequences. And one would assume that a pre-meditated strike would be well planned. That is, they had some clue as to do AFTERWARD!!!!!

Iraq IS turning into another Vietnam. The same shit "he's a murderer" schpeel they are using is the same shit they used against Ho Chi Min.

The issue is having a clue about what the people of IRAQ want. Again, Iraq and Vietnam invasions have the SAME root problem. None of the US politicians CARE what the people who they claim to be saving want.

1. nah
Iraq is no Vietnam,
we lost 38,000+ soldiers in vietnam and got no where. whatever your feelings are on the war comparing it to vietnam is just not accurate. it's sad to see solidiers die over there but they are doing a helluva job

3. you're right that Iraq is no Viet Nam…
a lot more US soldiers have been killed in Iraq during the past 9 months than were killed in the first year of the Viet Nam war.

6. but
that's only because the bulk of the troops sent there didn't go in till the second year. it started out as a police action, mainly defensive peacekeeping cia and spec ops

4. yeah BUT
To trudge out the oft quoted fact, we've lost more soldiers in the first 8 months of Iraq than we did in the first 4 years of Vietnam. I don't think the two situations are identical by any stretch of the imagination but to totally discount the similarities is foolhardy.

5. thousands horribly injured in iraq.....
that would have died in previous wars....now limbless and mangled instead of dead because of our new protection technologies.

They did not deserve this.

2. I hate LIEberman, and not just because of Iraq.
Early on after the Selection 2000 the creep aligned himself with Lynn Cheney in a movement to squelch the right of free speech in academia. LIEberman is despicable. He's not as bad as *, but fortunately I won't have to face the choice of the devil or his advocate in 2004. LIEberman is toast.
