Pardon my naiivete: Do these RW'ers know they are lying ?
It's one thing to spout an opinion when you are truly ignorant, and it's quite another when you KNOW the facts of a case. Case in point: Hannity. I would hope that he's done his homework and knows the facts of the Schiavo case. Maybe he's too stupid or incompetent to do his homework. I'm not just talking about the Schiavo case. It's everything in the political arena that the RW'ers do. I learned a long time ago to keep my mouth shut unless I had a solid command of the facts, which I usually do not. Do these RW talking heads KNOW they are lying ?

1. Yes
they also know and undestand goebbels dictum, repeat a lie often enough and it becomes indistinguishable from the truth.

6. Thing is
That dictum applies to them too. They've repeated the lies so often that often they see them as truth. Certainly inside their own twisted minds, Frist and Delay see nothing *wrong* with exploiting a brain-dead woman on life-support for political causes, no matter how repugnant it would seem to a normal person. Their own minds become the ultimate moral-relativity zone.

2. Hannity knows he's lying
Frist knows he's lying
Delay knows he's lying

They just don't give a shit. The ends (a theocracy) justify the means.

Caught the first 5 minutes of Savage last night - he was comparing Schiavo to Jesus!

It's all just one big mind control test to them...

3. Some do, some don't.
Some know enough to know that they're lying their asses off. Others genuinely believe the bullshit that they spew. There's a phrase for that kind of insanity, where somebody can have the truth sitting right in front of them, but they never see it because they don't want to. Unfortunately, I can't remember the phrase.

9. Exactly right
From: The American Heritage Dictionary

psy·cho·path () n. A person with an antisocial personality disorder, especially one manifested in aggressive, perverted, criminal, or amoral behavior.

psy·cho·path·ic () adj. 1. Of, relating to, or characterized by psychopathy. 2. Relating to or affected with an antisocial personality disorder that is usually characterized by aggressive, perverted, criminal, or amoral behavior. --psy'cho·path'i·cal·ly adv.

Note to original poster: Please do NOT confuse this with people with Mental Illness or start labeling people with Mental Illness Psychopaths.

I've been told that most Mental Heath Doctors consider Psychopaths un-treatable.

4. You might want to read this
This is about a CIA agent taking refuge in Sweden- http://truthout.org/docs_02/022203D.htm

"I can assure you," Williams told Swedish viewers, "that no one at CIA believes a word Bush said. What's more, no one at CIA believes that Bush believes a word Bush said."

7. That reminds me of a GREAT comeback by Al Sharpton
during the primaries last year. He was asked that question during a debate and gave a great answer that was almost like a psychological diagnosis of pathological liars.

(Personally I am not sure they know, or care, anymore. They just talk and say whatever the hell suits their purposes, truth be damned).

12. Yes and No
If you are talking about the Spinning Heads (Rush, Boortz, O'Rilley) I'd Say, YES definitely. If you are talking the FReeprers, I Doubt more that 10% of them know the truth, and they don't want to know the truth. To them, Ignorance is bliss.

But to the Spinners, the truth doesn't matter. The only thing that matters to them is MONEY, Lots and LOTS of Money.

If you've ever debated what the TRUE meaning of the Phrase, "Money is the Root of All EVIL," this is a very good example of this principle.

13. Interesting
When it comes to a deep belief system, an overiding ideology it doesn't matter.

Is their objective truth? Science says yes.

Faith says no. God is in the sky. Hell is down below. There is no objective proof, scientific proof for either.

So..all you have to say is "It's possible" "there is a chance she's not really already brain dead" "err on the side of life" and defend it with all the hysteria you can muster.

It's not about FACTS. It's about faith and the belief that your definition of life is factual because you say it's so.

It makes me wonder if five hundred years ago-they would keep defending that the person really wasn't dead until the maggots came out or something. Maybe this time-he'll rise!!!

But rational hope that is faith is not built on ignoring what science has proven. It would take me a long while, too if she was my daughter, but I would let her go. A hospital bed is not a life. What's the definition of life? Are you living if you can't eat on your own? As my husband said, she's analagous to a fetus that will never grow up. But the believers BELIEVE she may. So that isn't a lie.

It's faith. And it's in direct opposition to believing that science has truth to it.
