Could be that DeLay's Midnite Matinee was planned - knowing there would be at least two benefits. One makes a hero (to the tight-right) of * as he wings home to save Terry and throw the crumbs to his most annoying constituency. But they know their legislation and the subsequent appeals won't change a thing - so Two -paints all Democrats and all Judiciary as evil, God-less, etc.

It could also blow up in their smug and smarmy faces.
