Dean: "Republicans are reverse Robin Hood party -- steal from the poor"
Howard Dean was very outspoken about the Republicans in an interview yesterday with Black America Web.

http://www.blackamericaweb.com/site.aspx/bawnews/dean323

SNIP.."Howard Dean, the new chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said Monday the Republican Party has “nothing to offer” black Americans and maintained that Democrats steadfastly support economic parity and social justice for people of color.

“I think most black Americans understand the Democratic Party stands for civil rights and economic justice,” Dean said in an interview with BlackAmericaWeb.com Monday. “The Republicans have nothing to offer black Americans. What have they offered in the last 40 years? You can put lipstick on a pig, but it doesn’t make the pig a pretty girl.”

SNIP..."Are Democrats taking blacks for granted?

”Absolutely not,” Dean said. “We have to keep the promises we’ve made over the years. We’ve invested in African-American radio ads, we’ve invested in national print ads. We want to make our message very clear that we’re the party for equal rights. We’re the party for economic justice. The Republicans are the reverse Robin Hood party -- steal from the poor and give to the rich -- and that is not good for black Americans.”

“It’s a matter of keeping our word and being respectful to black Americans,” Dean added. “We want to show up and not take them for granted.” ..."

2. Kick! Dean's got the Reps down perfectly.
:kick: Go, Howard, go!

Our new battle cry: "Republicans are the reverse Robin Hood Party-- steal from the poor and give to the rich." That really sums it up.

4. We saw an example of that today.
We are both retired, moderate income bracket. We do not itemize deductions since our house is nearly paid for, and just not that much to deduct.

As a retired couple, middle class, our income taxes went up over $200 this year. The ad guy made up a chart of the difference, but it does not even make sense.

So they are stealing more from us, and cutting taxes for the rich.

5. No wonder we couldn't find Dean.
MSM doesn't like to cover stories about minorities.

6. Interesting comment about Rice and Powell.
SNIP..."“We have the most diverse senior staff in the history of Democratic National Committee, and that’s important because the Republicans are 30 years behind,” Dean told BlackAmericaWeb.com.

“They think if you have Powell or Rice, this means equal rights,” Dean said, “but the Democratic Party knows equal rights is about hiring power, and we know it’s important that people who make decisions should also be people of color.”

8. Right on
He's right. The republicans can scream and kick that we're all racisits since we're against Rice and Powell but if you really look at the party it's pretty feakin clear. All you have to do is look at DNC meetings and conventions and compare them to the RNC. That'd tell you!

7. All I can say is WOWZIE!!
Everytime Dean talks I get motivated and wanna take ACTION for the democratic party!! If only he would have ran in 2004, he would have smacked Bushco all the way back to his ranch in Texas. Too bad the RIGHT WING media convinced us Kerry was the guy. Nothing against Kerry, but DEAN is just the best thing since sliced bread for the democrats! I am a DEANIAC!! His point about pigs..oh man, that was genious and I can see Bushco reading it and being taken back by Deans intelligence.

Edited on Wed Mar-23-05 02:46 AM by FreedomAngel82
Before the "Dean Scream" happened he was already in third place. People voted for Kerry and people got Kerry. Doy. (Personal note: I liked all the canidates)

10. Dean was the man
Dean would have wiped the floor with Bushco but the right wing media convinced scared Dems to support Kerry, but if Dean ran I think a lot of Repukes would have crossed over and supported Dean because of his enthusiasm. His "scream" was intentionally designed to attract repukes, in my opinion. No question Dean win 40 possibly 45 states if he ran.

15. Check google for why dean went from first to third in 3 weeks.
Google dean and confederate flag

google dean and caucus and canada

google dean and osama or "americans for jobs and health care" (a kerry/gep shadow smear team)

maybe you'll get a glimmering of what happened. If you can't figure it out, PM me.

26. Look at the tone in the NEWSWEEK and TIME Magazine cover stories
Message was clear enough to undecided voters: "UNELECTABLE LIBERAL"

They doomed his candidacy....the right wing did not want W to run against an economic populist like Dean who was drawing the apathetic back into politics.

What we need to do about it: reform the primary calendar to make it harder for the press to blackball potential nominees.

16. I think it is divisive to do that now. Not needed.
It does not help matters. We have to work together on this to build the party. I am also wondering if I detect a little sarcasm? Either way, it is divisive.

11. Not to mention the numbers of AA that enjoyed the middle class under
Clinton because of strong Affirmative Action policies that make sure state/federal and all invest in all parts of American life. If Clinton had been President for another 15 years.. there may not have been a need for Affirmative Action. Clinton would have taken the recession of 2001 like a man. Instead of starting a war to hide the economic reality facing Americans... which Americans still do not know about because THEY HAVE NO LEADER for the people.

19. He said GOP was wrong in stepping into Schiavo case....more from TN.
SNIP..."In a speech to Democratic party activists in Nashville today, Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said Republicans made a political mistake in their handling of the Schiavo case.

`Probably Surprised'

``I think the president and members of his party were probably surprised when they read the polls, because most Americans believe this is a deeply private, tragic matter, and that politicians ought to stay out of it,'' Dean said. ``I believe it is.'' END SNIP

GREAT! Good, simple, rhymes, too, so it's fun to say. Paints a word picture. And rhymes. So it's fun to repeat. And VERY EASY TO REMEMBER. GOOD thinking. No, I take that back. GREAT thinking!

Hear you guys get Air America now? Or is that just the Dallas area? My daughter was listening on the way home from work there, and she said the reception was very poor.

33. We actually got Air America a week before Dallas did
Reception is adequite, although after dark interference increases.

I think the Dallas station might be on reduced power at the moment. Apparently on their first day their tower was hit by lightning!

22. I knew Dean would be good for the Dem's.
Loved him as my Governor and would have loved him as our president. I think he scared people, not used to politicians speaking the truth. We still voted for him in Vermont, we are very very proud of him!
