The repubs will use this on: Kerry...
Interesting article, I am encouraged that finally someone else is being scrutinized to some extent.

The publication Congressional Quarterly examined 119 recorded votes held in 2003 in which the president had taken a position. CQ found that Kerry was present for just 28 percent of those votes. In contrast, Kerry's colleague from Massachusetts, Ted Kennedy, was present for 97 percent of the votes.

When Kerry showed up, he did indeed vote against the president a significant number of times. In 2003, according to CQ, Kerry sided against the president 70 percent of the time. Kennedy, usually viewed as the gold standard of liberal orthodoxy, voted against Bush 53 percent of the time.

In a larger examination of all Senate votes, CQ found that Kerry and Kennedy have compiled remarkably similar voting records — a fact that will no doubt be used by Republicans who will seek to portray Kerry as a classic Massachusetts liberal, should he win the Democratic nomination and face President Bush in November's general election.

4. So...
Some lately have made it seem that Kerry is the perfect alternative - and that he is the only one that can win. While, people have the right to support whichever candidate they choose - everyone has gaps that will be attacked. He is no different. (contrary to what many say)

Before he gets my vote, (which I hope not to cast) I'd at least like to know what they are.

6. pick the best candidate by what he believes in
don't be scared of how they're going to attack him. No matter what he's done or who he is they will attack him.

3. So?
So Kerry has been running for President, and they'll try to use that against him. So what?

5. The American people will never elect a guy with cancer president.
Especially not a guy who looks like he won't make it through his term.

11. There are lots of survivors of prostate surgery
I don't know the whole of it but I believe there is a 70%, five year survival rate for such surgery. Depends on the severity of his cancer. Anyhow his doctors say he is cancer free.

7. Bring it on!
The republicans and bush had better worry about how they will defend their own record.

Kerry (or whatever Dem wins the nomination) will portray bush as a Texas chickenhawk!

10. If Kerry becomes president, he can more than make up for some lost votes
He'll be the ones vetoing the Republican ones and bringing in the better Democratic ones.

15. It's already been brought up by the Repubs and also
people on this site and it will be brought up again.

Kerry is there for the votes he needs to be there for. He is kept aware of the vote counts and if his vote makes a difference he's there. The only way of not missing votes, of course, is by not running for President.

If the people of MA are upset because he represents them and he wasn't there, then they will let that be known when they vote in the primary.

My husband and I are two of his constituents that understand that missing votes are inevitable.
