Dean Jokes About 'Screeching' in Iowa
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=564&ncid=564&e=6&u=/nm/20040122/ts_nm/campaign_dean_dc_4

LEBANON, N.H. (Reuters) - A hoarse Howard Dean (news - web sites) joked on Thursday about his nationally televised outburst, saying his voice had not recovered from his "screeching" after he lost in Iowa, the first major prize for Democrats seeking the White House.

1. I'm looking forward to Letterman
I'm not a Dean supporter, but I'd much rather be laughing with him than at him, good to see he's playing along. :-)

8. Like I always say ...
"If you can't laugh at yourself, how can anyone take you seriously"

3. Dean was Wellstone Memorialed!
This is my first post in this forum that I have managed to avoid completely till now, but I am FURIOUS about this SLIMING of DEAN, and I am still undecided on my candidate, not a Deanie at all. I have given money to several candidates so far.

But I am OUTRAGED at what they've done to Dean.

Dean didn't SAY ANYTHING. He was only reeling off the names of states. Some twit on NPR this morning said that those PARTICULAR states were the HOME STATES of his OPPONENTS, so it was more nefarious than just a list of primaries.

BULL!

This whole flap is because people didn't like the TONE OF HIS VOICE. It's freaking UNBELIEVABLE to me.

He leads a little pep rally of his troops. He's completely gracious in defeat. And they SLIME him because he was TOO LOUD.

SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP, Dems!

That's the message the media wants you to hear.

</rant>

Thank you for letting me vent in your forum.

4. The home states of his opponents?
"Not only are we going to New Hampshire," Dean said. "We're going to South Carolina and Oklahoma and Arizona and North Dakota and New Mexico, and we're going to California and Texas and New York. And we're going to South Dakota and Oregon and Washington and Michigan. And then we're going to Washington, D.C., to take back the White House. Yeah."

Are any of the opponents (except for */Texas) from any of those states?

9. Later in his speech
Dean does go through a second list of states which includes the home states of the other candidates. So what? thought I.

5. Excellent!
I think that is the right way to deal with it. In minimalizes the impact, if he was to go on the defensive about it, it would make it look way worse.

There is no denying that it was FUNNY! Good call Doc...you go!
