Democrats and Defense
Is it the fear of being kicked out of office that causes Democrats to not say that the defense budget can be cut? Also, During the Clinton Administration, President Clinton was able to reduce the defense budget. Did he do this by reducing the amount of money given to countries to buy weapons? In other words did Clinton reduce the defense budget by reducing the amount of arms the United States sold to foreign countries?

1. CBS News "War on Waste" article shows $2.3 TRILLION missing
$2.3 trillion unaccounted for at DoD budget...And with a war on, you can't say 'cut the DoD budget' despite the waste lest you get even more TRAITOR thrown in your face.

Bush's tax cuts hammer the lower 98.5% of taxpayers who make less than $3 million/yr. Unbelievable but true.

2. The four freedoms & the freedom from fear
Edited on Sat Mar-12-05 06:41 PM by firefox
The Four Freedoms in the vision of FDR included the Freedom From Fear. By this he meant that no nation should be allowed to build a military arsenal the likes of Germany that could threaten the entire world by requiring everyone to get involved to stop the threat. Today the U.S. spends more on armaments than the entire world combined. What Roosevelt envisioned was a world of mutual defense against an aggressor.

You ask me why Hillary is not acceptable or Kerry or anyone else in support of armament to a point way past annihilation. It robs me of a freedom from fear. We have deficits out the yin and the yang. The cost of defense should include a part of the interest on the national debt that the military-industrial complex has used to fatten their wealth. To not include the $80 billion of the Veterans Administration in defense spending is Enron accounting. It is so foreign a thought that most people have never read such and idea or even considered it. Of course to de-Enronize the budget you would have to add to the defense budget the $50 billion that spent on Japan and include it back on the revenue side since they pay for Okinawa. Then again, you could call for it to be divided into defense and offense.

People just are not real. Who is it that they think is going to attack us anyway- I mean if we did not create an arms race and bully the planet in our attempt at world domination?

3. Thank-you! If People Here And...
Elsewhere were treated as we like to be treated ie: ('Do unto Others As you Would Have Them Do Unto You')..I'll Bet This 'Neck of the Woods' Would Find People Are Much the Same Most Everywhere..Funny For Supposedly Oh So Religious Said Individuals Never Seem To Work The Golden Rule Into Their Sermons And Most Certainly Not Into Their Deeds!
