SS Question
Anyone know how this will work?

My uncle is 73 - he has cancer and may pass away soon. His wife is 53. She "retired" some years ago, but, since she is under 55, has not collected any SS payments. Under the current system, am I correct in thinking that she will receive SS payments (much reduced of course) from her husband's "account". But what about the new system. Will her payment remain the same since her husband was over 55? Or, since she is under 55, will she no longer be able to receive spousal benefits?

4. Unless there are children
under 18 she won't be eligible until she is 60, then it is the early retirement amount not the full amount.
