I just read this article in the Wash Post and it's also in LBN. (see http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A25358-2005Mar10 and http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x1301868 )

I am so damned glad to see Democrats use every procedural tool in the arsenal to stop the GOP from giving DeLay yet another free pass for his egregious ethical violations. About damn time. Thank you House Dems for showing some spine.

Maybe we ought to start a weekly "show of spine" award for Democrats who take courageous actions to stop the GOP decimation. What do ya think? Conyers, these guys today, Boxer, etc ought to be charter members of the Democrats with Spine club.

The House, facing new controversy about the travel of Majority Leader Tom DeLay and other lawmakers, was left last night with no mechanism for investigating improper behavior by its members when Democrats shut down the ethics committee by refusing to accept Republican rules changes that restrict the panel's power.

Democrats said they do not plan to allow the ethics committee to organize until Republicans repeal a series of rule changes they pushed through in January, making it more difficult to initiate an investigation unless at least one Republican member supports the probe.

1. You'll like this site: www.backbonecampaign.org
Be sure to check the "spine awards" section--and nominate your favorite candidate. ;-)
