1. That's it exactly.....
...so now the question has to be why have the majority of our political representatives, our leaders and our employers taken this position on social safety nets when the experience of over 180 years of free market economics have shown that advanced societies which ignore not only their neediest members, but also their working and middle classes invariably collapse?

4. Because it's the churches responsibility to provide these services.

6. You're forgiven but the question remains how would churches....
...provide employment security, affordable health insurance, pension security, social security, bankruptcy protection and welfare protection for the most destitute for all Americans?

8. It's not the churches, it's GOD
who is supposed to do it.

If you are in God's favor, you have all the money you need. Otherwise, if you are poor, you are a miserable sinner.

12. I haven't figured that out either but...
That's what the Faith based unitiatives are all about. Eliminating the safety nets and placing them in the hands of the churches. This isn't new stuff, it is the planned goal of the fundies. Check out theocracywatch.

7. My husband was a victim of Boeing two years ago.
He was laid off after almost 18 years of faithful service in the Engineering Department. It was a terrible time, but he has found other employment (much lower salary and terrible benefits).

9. Would be funny if it wasn't so true!
Being self employed I've never had any of these 'safety-nets', but I'm very sympathetic to those losing them now.:eyes:

10. Good toon, and when that guy falls though all the safety nets, and hits
the ground, there'll be a lot of other people there welcoming him that fell through all the nets already.

So sad.

11. He forgot one
For federal financial aid programs, which are one of the few avenues in this country for the poor to get a college education (joining the military notwithstanding), and thus reach a point where their financial straits are not as dire.

13. Now add boogeymen all around and put an American Flag in his hand!
Then have him looking down to see his imminent impalement on a church spire.

Yep. That about does it.
