A chance for house members to redeem themselves: Tom Feeney.
In the Orlando Sentinel today, it says that Tom Feeney's improper junkets can only be investigated if someone in the House files a complaint with the ethics committee. But not even Nancy Pelosi will do it:

"House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif, has said the Abramoff trips should be investigated but she has a policy of not filing complaints against other House members, according to her office.

"Only House members -- not the public -- are allowed to file ethics complaints. And that rarely happens, according to watchdog groups."

I say DU starts a letter campaign calling for a House member to get balls. They owe us one after that last bankruptcy vote.

1. GAWD...what the hell is with these people?
We hand them cases on a silver platter but they don't want to break their little unspoken club-ethics rules by PURSUING these cases, BECAUSE it was handed to them on a silver platter?

We desperately need to get rid of these democrats the next election, we cannot afford any more of these GUTLESS, FAKE ass "representitives" any longer. Before we can take back the government, we are going to have to take back our own party.

2. It's just unbelievable. Dems need to get a killer instinct, or they're
going to be lunchmeat for Republicans. Especially if Cheney breaks with a 200 year old Filibuster rule, then Pelosi should recognize that the gloves are off.

3. Maybe it just confirms Feeney's power....with the latest reports
from BradBlog on Feeney and Curtis, etc. I think most Dems would be very reluctant to step up first and charge him with ethics violations. It will have to come from the Blogs and maybe more information will come out about him to make the case stronger.

I can't blame Pelosi for this.

5. I blame Pelosi. The buck stops with her. She's got to be tough and
with the Filibuster on the line, this should be a no brainer.

Can someone send this to bradblog?

4. What was that saying?
For the triumph of evil, all it takes is for good people to do nothing?

I think I read in a DeLay related news item that Pelosi also took some travel from the Korea-US economic council, or whatever the foreign agent's name was. Don't know if that report was true or not. Maybe she doesn't want to open that can of worms.

11. FWIW...
...Got my eye on it. Figuring out what might be able to get done here.

One of the problems, as I understand it, with the way the Ethics Rules are in the House is if one of them files Ethics charges that don't meet the (too) high bar that is necessary to sanction someone for ethics charges, then the person who *filed* them can then be held on ethics charges.

It's stacked.

But there's always a way...

Send letters to congress in the meantime asking them to stand up and do the right. That will definitely not hurt.

If we can organize something, that will help even more. I'm personally just maxed out for the moment however, but I'd encourage you guys to pick up the ball and run with it!
