How many think Newsweek's cover "Doubts About Dean" affected Iowa?
Because i sure as shit think it did.

I wrote them and said how about a cover story that says "Doubts About Bush", or better yet a cover story "Worst President Ever", or maybe one with a picture of Shrub and just one word "LIAR".

I couldn't believe that cover when I saw it.

Thanks, Liberal Media!!!!

1. Live by Newsweek covers, Die by Newsweek covers
Let's remember Dean's "movement" was propelled along largely because of the fawning media coverage to begin with.

3. Not so
Dean's campaign was news. That is different from deliberate sabotage.

5. No he wasn't... Dean got almost no coverage at first

other than being called a fringe leftist by Kerry's DLC.

Dean was being attacked in the media with what little mention he got... until his fundraising totals broke records.

THEN the media started jumping on and playing catch up with coverage of Dean.

I know because I was in on the movement very early.

2. I didn't read it, but right before the Iowa caucus
I saw one pundit accuse Fineman (to his face)of contributing to Dean's fall.

7. Yup, the media's fault, definitely
I think if I lived in Iowa, and the candidates were running around my state and campaigning all the time, I'd go see the candidates and make my decision on that.

Sorry, but Dean had plenty of support until people started paying attention.

Their readership is in the tens of thousands at most.

12. I didn't see Newsweek before the Caucus
Edited on Thu Jan-22-04 03:54 PM by emulatorloo
But I saw a lot of Dean and the other candidates. I took a long time deciding, and Dean was always in my top 2. I ended up not supporting him at my caucus.

So no, the Newsweek cover did not influence me. Gov Dean did.

On edit: removed boring stuff on my decision process that isn't really relevant
