Lieberman on Bush SS Plan
Joe Lieberman, apearing on Wolf Blitzer:

Wolf: "Are you for the president's Social Security plan?"
Joe: "No, I'm not."

Reaction among DU's Lieberbashers was swift:

DOES NOT COMPUTE!!! NO! NO! DINO! DINOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

1. Liberman is a cancer
as if being against destroying Social Security is all of a sudden proof that he's no longer a Bush whore.

4. You guys are hopeless
Here's a guy who:

Sponsored the first gay rights law in the country as a state senator
Was the most pro-consumer AG in Connecticut history
Has one of the best enviro records in the US Senate
Has a solidly pro-labor voting record
Has a superb record on civil rights

Yet you still buy into this silly myth that he votes with the Republicans. It's ludicrous.

9. he has to vote Democrat once in a while
so he can keep fooling gullible voters like you.

he confirmed torturer Gonzales didn't he?

he confirmed war criminal Rice didn't he?

he in favor of Israel's continuing butchering of Palestinians isn't he?

Lieberman is a disgrace.

7. But he believes in moral values and the exercise of military power
That makes him completely unacceptable to the large number of DU'ers who embrace moral relativism and pacifism.

6. Gore evidently thought Lieberman was a "good" democrat.
I like Joe's answer - nothing ambiguous there.

10. Remember that remark...
... because my guess is that Lieberman will be co-sponsoring a compromise bill that ultimately will do what the Bushies intend.

One of the themes floating up from the Bushies is that privatized accounts could be converted to annuities upon retirement, and a significant part of Lieberman's real constituency is composed of the insurance and accounting industries. Who benefits from that proposition?

11. To be fair, today's tantrum was about Lieberman's refusal to agree..
that Greenspan is a hack.

12. ok.
Seems, at this stage of the game, something like a minimum requirement, but if you want me to give Joe a cookie for that, so be it. I'll save the ticker-tape for a little more.

13. Yeah - big tent party. We allow people to vote a little different and it
seems Lieberman is a hero by the looks of his voting record. I didn't know that. I just like him during interviews (okay I am not so much a hawk). :loveya:

15. The Lieberman hate here is ridiculous
He's a fantatstic Senator but because he actually has some varied opinions, he's persona non grata here.
