3. Sorry Mr. Baker, you got what YOU WANTED!
Any pathetic republicans who begin to recognize the rumblings of common sense within their long stagnant consciences---aren't exactly going to get a pat on the back if they begin to gain sanity.

Pathetic lowly slithering creatures they are....hmmm, that could define moderate Republicans who have enabled this Bush regime.

14. Well, perhaps it's because he's looking out for Number One.

None of these folks does ANYTHING, bats and eyelash, clips a hangnail, burps, or farts, unless there's something in it for them - usually something involving wealth, power, and/or influence. He's not making these statements just for the mere sake of proving what a nice guy he is, or how much of a redemption he's had.

Either he owns some very valuable coastal property that's now threatened by rising ocean tides; or he has a substantial stock portfolio in businesses that rely on climate conditions remaining as they are (which is now destabilizing) - either pertaining to a large labor force, or pure geographical location, or resources; or he's trying to be shrewd and think ahead to the next investment opportunity on which he'd like to stake out a large claim on the ground floor - like alternative energy technologies. Perhaps he's already invested therein, and hoping to steer more interest/investment to grow that portion of the budding industry and achieve dominance.

DON'T EVER FORGET: This guy is "The Fixer." He's into BIGTIME, HIGH LEVEL manipulation and king-making. He positioned himself shrewdly to be indispensible to at least three major figures in republi-CON and therefore world politics and power maneuverings. He doesn't ever seek to be the king himself. Too dangerous, too risky, and it's HIS neck stuck out and his head on the block, then. He makes stuff possible FOR the king. And/or determines who BECOMES the king.

So he's not just being a new convert to altruism here. He has something to gain. Something MAJOR to gain. He's just trying to grab the steering wheel again.

4. Oh oh, if Baker is saying this
something slimy is in the offing. That guy is one of the creepyist of them all. What is his agenda in saying this, it's sure to be an agenda that doesn't benefit anyone but his buddies.

5. Poppy sends "uncle Jimmy" out to kick his son in the butt.....
Edited on Fri Mar-04-05 01:29 PM by KoKo01
This is pretty significant. Baker is Poppy's boy....always comes in to
save the heir or to chastise him.

Maybe "Gannongate" is more significant than we thought. James Baker doesn't care about anything but himself & Poppy's Empire so bringing up Global Warming means the Repugs are getting worried that the Left is uniting and public approval is going to us and away from them.

That's just my 2 cents, though. "Trouble" in the Bush Crime Syndicate :D

8. It's possible...but what I remember of Poppy
is that he's as shallow as his spawn. He let Baker run the government along with a few other hacks. At least his hacks weren't as dangerous as the "NeoCons," but I can't imagine Poppy understanding much of what Clinton says. Who knows...but somethings up with this. Given how the Repugs feel about anything that isn't "Sound Science" this could cause a hornet's nest to come down on Baker. But, maybe most of the media won't even report it. :shrug;

7. Ah! Imhotep the Texas Mummy speaks!
Well fuck you very much, oh ancient one, and the camel you rode in on!

Could it be that you're saddling up and riding out in green warpaint in a desperate attempt to make your boy's party look reasonable?

Could it be that you've got your finger in somebody's corporate pie as a "new" oil shale/hydrogen/coal bed methane/(fill in the blank) energy "policy" promises just gobs and gobs of money for the rest of your Texas buddies?

Or might it be that wisps of smoke from the great burning are beginning to seep under the office door, arousing fleeting emotions of concern and responsibility?

My money's on options 1 and 2.

11. Well maybe it really is all about Baker/Poppy's investments. Wind
Machines? New technology for shale oil recovery? Investment in Toyota for the new Prius line?

It's hard to believe they invest in anything helpful for the environment , though.

there was some sort of big-league profit or power in it for them.

These are money/power whores of the first order. It's ALL about power and money. That's the only god they worship. It's a two-headed got at that (two-faced?) and it's all they bow to. It's the only "religion" they recognize or support.

Perhaps he's trying to play International Chess, looking ahead at the way the global markets are shaking down. Dollar's down, euros are up, Mexico just announced it expects to pump LESS oil out of one of its major oil fields anymore. Perhaps they're projecting ahead to prohibitive costs for investment in wringing out what little oil there is remaining on the planet in light of the declining value of the dollar - AND the fact that other nations that sonny-boy has now thoroughly pissed off are holding so much of our debt and perhaps are making noises that they don't feel like cooperating anymore - AND perhaps they're looking ahead to not only the realities of Peak Oil but maybe also Peak Politics. Perhaps they're projecting that the Dems and liberals and environmentalists are about to experience an upswing as the pendulum begins to head back away from the current power direction. That would mean there's less political power to push for raping the earth, leveling all the old-growth forests, decimating the rain forests, drilling the bejeezus out of the Alaska Wilderness, etc., and fewer investment dollars coming in from overseas to bankroll these increasingly expensive projects. FURTHER, he could know enough to have sized up the instability of Saudi Arabia - perhaps his inside information warns him that the Saudi royal family that's so intimately in bed with the bushes and bankrolling so much of their activities - are about to be overthrown as radical Islam gets more and more stirred up by our darling little boy genius.

So perhaps he sees a need to start "repositioning."
