Polk was the last Democratic president that didn't have 2 first names. Check it...

Franklin Pierce
James Buchanan
Grover Cleveland
Grover Cleveland
Woodrow Wilson
Franklin D. Roosevelt
Harry Truman
John Kennedy
Lyndon Johnson
Jimmy Carter
Bill Clinton

This is a good sign. We have 4 candidates now with 2 first names.

Wes Clark
John Edwards
Howard Dean
John Kerry

And it goes for the republicans too:

Chester A Arthur
James A Garfield
Ulysses S Grant
Benjamin Harrison
Rutherford B Hayes
Abraham Lincoln
Theodore Roosevelt
William H Taft

But wait, there's more

More Democrats:
Andrew Jackson
Andrew Johnson

Federalist (2)
George Washington
John Adams

Democratic Republican (4)
John Quincy Adams
Thomas Jefferson
James Madison
James Monroe

Whig (4) )
Millard Fillmore
William Henry Harrison
Zachary Taylor
John Tyler

That's 23 out of 43. :wow:

4. How many of these last names became first names later, BECAUSE
of the president?

When did these names come into use?
