Even before the House ethics committee has officially organized for the 109th Congress, panel ranking member Alan Mollohan (D-W.Va.) made an unusual public break with new Chairman Doc Hastings (R-Wash.) and urged the House to overturn recent rules changes he said were weakening the ability of the committee to do its job.

My understanding is that the prior to the rule change, in the event of a tie vote by the Ethics Committee, which is evenly divided by the parties, would result in an investigation. With the rethug rule change now in effect, a tie vote would result in no investigation.
How unethical.
Watch for a move to bring this propsed rule reversal to the House floor. Preparing for that to happen, the responsibility will fall SQUARELY ON OUR SHOULDERS to get notice to the populace so they can influence moderate (if there are any) rethugs, to reinstate the "old" rules.
