FRIDAY, 6:05 A.M., 30TH STREET STATION: Barring the fact that it's 6 o' fucking clock in the morning and the temperature is a scrotum-constricting 10 degrees, everything is going swimmingly.
Two busloads of eager-beaver Howard Dean volunteers--male and female, union guys and grad students, well-paid professionals and the unemployed, the sane and some marginally less so, all plugged in and itching to become agents of change--have shown up with pillows and sleeping bags, ready to embark on a 20-hour bus ride into the heart of Iowa.

They're hoping against hope that they'll help make a difference.
