Chuck Grassley on Dianne Rheem show today, The man sounds like he
Edited on Tue Mar-01-05 10:45 AM by candy331
is ready to dismantle the whole of America, bankruptcy laws, SS, filibuster and on. No mercy for the middle class from him and disdain for the Democrats. A big gloat that people like Daschle are gone from the Senate according to him. Mentioned Hillary would not appoint same kind of judges as Bush, asked by Diannne was did he think Hillary was running and he said she is running now can't you tell.

1. argh! gag!
Not really a fan of Rheem. The first time I took the opportunity to listen (watch) her entire show was when CSPAN aired radio hosts for liberals and conservatives. Rheem had a lady on who seemed to have RW views. When the lady said Condi was her mentor while she was earning her doctoral degree (or maybe it was her masters  ) that pretty much did it for me...especially when Rheem stated that she used to have Condi on "frequently" while she was at the university.

4. Rehm is one of the better..
... talk show hosts.

Now, my stance against sending NPR affiliates a dime is well known here. I never miss an opportunity to point out how far down NPR news has sunk.

That said, there are still some good non-news programs on NPR affiliate stations.

IMHO - Diane Rehm is one of the best. If you listen to her shows over the long term, you will find that she is scrupulously balanced even though she occasionally betrays a bit of sentiment towards our side.

She never lets either side get away with making assertions they cannot back up. When she has opposing guests on, which is pretty often, she never lets one side dominate the conversation or talk over the other.

In the world of radio talk shows, there are few as professional as her IMHO.

3. I turned him off
After a few minutes I couldn't take it anymore. Grassley's got his talking point well memorized that's for sure.

What's up with the pubs trotting out President Clinton as a defense for their 'we're gonna dismantle Social Security Insurance' plans? I'm getting pretty fucking sick of hearing that disingenuous little sound bite.

In response I propose the Slap a Stupid Republican Plan If everyone in the country simply slapped a pub every time they said something stupid, maybe, just maybe they would stop saying stupid things. OK so probably not, but hey, a guy can dream can't he?

6. I used to like Rehm back in the early '90s before she went national
After that, she seemed to become more deferential to those among the "inside the beltway" establishment.

What often irritated me with her was she'd hang up on a caller for saying the same thing one of her bigwig guests would say...only she'd let the bigwig slide.
