GOP in alaska warming up to issue of global warming.

Too bad it took this long, may be too late. Kudos to McCain and Lieberman for being out in front on this crises (hey, everybody does something right sometime).

"And Alaska Senator Ted Stevens, who voted against the McCain-Lieberman bill in 2003, has now convened a subcommittee on global climate change and says he is especially concerned about the effects of global warming on his state's native Inuit population.

While the House of Representatives is dominated by Republicans that adhere more closely to the White House agenda, legislation mirroring the Climate Stewardship Act has been introduced there as well.

''Even conservative Republicans are saying that climate change is a real problem,'' Roy noted. However, he cautioned that ''saying that they're starting to deal with this as an issue is different from saying they will support specific legislation."

Why does the right fail to see the obvious? More importantly, why do they so often FAIL TO PROTECT THE FUTURE OF OUR CHILDREN AND THEIR CHILDREN'S CHILDREN.

THESE ARE THE KINDS OF VALUES WE NEED TO START TALKING ABOUT....LIKE THE NATIVE AMERICANS, WHO THOUGHT GENERATIONS AHEAD.

"100 years out, the only things we leave behind that will matter are the environment and constitutional legitimacy." -Wes Clark

"Human beings do affect the environment and all you have to do is fly along the Andes and look at the disappearing glaciers down there and you recognize that there is something called global warming and it's just getting started as China and India modernize." (source – speech at the Council on Foreign Relations

2. It's been going up and down here
Earlier in the week it was pretty nice. Still needed a jacket sometimes but other wise nice. Now it's nippy. One night it got around thirty-eight degrees.

6. Are you in Kenai, Rogue Valley?
It's been warm up here in Anchorage, too. Just about the time you think the snow's going to stick around a little bit, it all melts.

7. Gee. I thought Michael Crichton had proven that global warming was just
a plot by environmental anarchists who were artificially warming up the air and creating tsunamis just to scare people.
<sarcasm over>

Since when did any Repukes give any thought to the world that would be left for their children and grandchildren?
