Please everyone , I need help. I am doing a 60 Sec. commercial
for the ALCU that requires some edgy quoted from Repugs expressing bizarre sentiments against the Constitution. Things along the lines of Gonzales quaint remark!

3. True - for the Short Attention Span Theater types, a coupla 30-second
spots would be just as effective.

Even better (and CHEAPER, as far as buying ad time) would be a series of 10-second quick hits. Like the quick jabs that frustrate an opponent when sparring. Plus - you have the potential for reaching much larger audiences because it's cheaper and easier to place a lot of 10 second spots rather than bet it all on ONE 60-second longie that may only run a few times.

2. How about using some of Orwell's quotes from "Animal Farm"
It would be the same basic ideas....

You know: All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.

That kind of thing.

10. Try Tom Delay saying there is no seperation of church and state..
Edited on Mon Feb-21-05 10:03 PM by Griffy
The concept that the constitution doesnt support a seperation of church and state is a vital national issue. Seperation is vital to the groth of this mutlicultural nation... look here for a GREAT piece on this topic.. you might find other clips to use too. EVERYONE should watch this, and tell your friends!

http://www.theocracywatch.org/separation_church_state2.htm

and heres something on Delay specifically..

http://www.au.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=6045&abbr=pr&security=1002&news_iv_ctrl=1381

.. refering to bushes' "faith based initiative"...
-snip-

DeLay then added that the initiative would be a way of "standing up and rebuking this notion of separation of church and state that has been imposed upon us over the last 40 or 50 years. You see, I don't believe there is a separation of church and state. I think the Constitution is very clear. We have the right and the freedom to exercise our religion no matter what it is anywhere we choose to do it. We have an opportunity to once again get back into the public arena."

-snip-

"In fact, as long ago as 1879, a unanimous Supreme Court agreed with the writings of Thomas Jefferson and ruled that the First Amendment created a 'wall of separation between church and state.' It's a tragedy that the House Majority Whip denigrates the very freedoms he has sworn to uphold."

13. Here's a few...
"Don't let anything like trees in the Clearwater National Forest get in the way of providing jobs and fueling the economy, even if that means cutting down every last tree in the state."
--Congresswoman Helen Chenoweth R-ID during her 1994 campaign

"Most of these feminists are radical, frustrated lesbians, many of them, and man-haters, and failures in their relationships with men, and who have declared war on the male gender. The Biblical condemnation of feminism has to do with its radical philosophy and goals. That's the bottom line."
--Jerry Falwell

"There are so many women on the floor of Congress, it looks like a mall."
--Rep. Henry Hyde (R-IL), repeating a joke he heard

"Men in the pro-choice movement are either men trapped in women's bodies...or younger guys who are like camp followers looking for easy sex."
--Rep. Bob Dornan (R-CA)

"When I see a first-class individual who makes $80,000 a year, he's lower middle class. When I see someone who is making anywhere from $300,000 to $750,000 a year, that's middle class. When I see anyone above that, that's upper middle class."
--Rep. Fred Heineman (R-NC), explaining that his yearly income of $180,000 leaves him short of middle-class status

"Half the world does not know the joy of wearing cotton underwear"
--Phil Gramm

15. A few goodies here.
"You've got to kill the terrorists before the killing stops. And I'm for the president to chase them all over the world. If it takes 10 years, blow them all away in the name of the Lord." --Rev. Jerry Falwell

"This is no different than what happens at the Skull and Bones initiation...I'm talking about people having a good time, these people, you ever heard of emotional release? You ever heard of the need to blow some steam off?" --Talk show host Rush Limbaugh, on the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal

"Lesbianism is so rampant in some of the schools in southeast Oklahoma that they'll only let one girl go to the bathroom. Now think about it. Think about that issue. How is it that that's happened to us?" —Rep. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.)

"I'm just looking to get together with any white guy who's got a great body on him, a good size endowment that's cut, just get together, get naked, play with one another, get each other off. Nothing hardcore. I have to be incredibly careful, incredibly safe, incredibly discreet. I can't overemphasize that." —Rep. Edward Schrock (R-Va.), who dropped his bid for re-election after a gay activist posted audio files on his Web site of Schrock leaving recordings on a gay sex personals phone line

"The really rich people figure out how to dodge taxes anyway." —President Bush, explaining why high taxes on the rich are a failed strategy

"Oh, no, we're not going to have any casualties." —President Bush discussing the Iraq war with Christian Coalition founder Pat Robertson, when Robertson told him he should prepare the American people for casualties

(Well, since anybody who is not white doesn't count, I guess he's right in his own sick mind.)

"The objective of securing the safety of Americans from crime and terror has been achieved." —Attorney General John Ashcroft, upon resigning

"I read your book," Robertson said. "When you get through, you say, 'If I could just get a nuclear device inside Foggy Bottom, I think that's the answer.' I mean, you get through this, and you say, 'We've got to blow that thing up,'" ... –Rev. Pat Robertson in reference to the U.S. State Dept., located at ‘Foggy Bottom’
