Howard Dean's coming to Mississippi next week.
March 1, Howard Dean will be in Jackson, Mississippi, to speak at a dinner with elected representatives of the Democratic Party. My understanding is that the event will also have general admission tickets.

There will be two receptions for Dean prior to the dinner. First, he will be at a private residence with big-time donors. Then, he will go to the second reception, at the convention center, with folks like me. :-)

Thought you guys would love to know that one of the first events our new chairman is going to attend is a Mississippi event. :-)

4. He's also going to "what's the matter with Kansas" this week!
I love Howard Dean, he'll take it to 'em, and they beg for more!
One thing I have learbed about Southerners and Heartland folk - they love real people and they can spot a phony 5 miles away...

5. Yes he is.
He's the only candidate I've so wholeheartedly supported and have been HAPPY to send money to.

Can't wait for him to unload on the fundies.....it's a'comin', just a matter of when. It should be a feast of words.

9. you're god damn right he's serious
when Dean says 50 state party, he means 50 state party. Hey, if Jimmy Carter could win the solid South in 1976 then we can do it again.

all we gotta do is "show up" "tell them who we are" and "listen"

YEARGH!!!

One of Dean's planks for the DNC is to run a fifty state campaign. We're in for one hell of a WILD RIDE!

41. Democracy For America Progressive Workshop - NOLA July 9th
Jim Dean, Howard's brother, who has taken over leadership of DFA since H Dean was named chair of the Democratic Party, will be a speaker at this event which is still in the planning phase.

This should be a great networking and educational tool for all active democrats in Louisiana! More info to come...spread the word

8. Roll up your sleeves, Howard!
I was musing just this morning on the electoral map, and remembering at about 2 minutes after 8 p.m. Central time when all the networks awarded a broad swath of states to Stupidhead from North Dakota down to Alabama. It was depressing to watch, and I thought to myself that there must be a way to change that.

And the first step in any plan was for Democratic leaders to go to those states. Keep reading my mind, Mr. Dean!

He placed all his money on Ohio and Florida. and probably won both of them.

14. off topic- I don't see anyone talking about the comments by
our new head of the CIA, Porter Goss (sp?). I heard on the radio that someone I thought would be a Bush /Republican stooge was out there saying that 1) there were no terrorists in Iraq, and 2) there were now lots, and better organized....and then that Rumsfeld was apprently not his usual charming self following these remarks. Was there much discussion about this? Sorry to interrupt.

19. Hi ya Maddy - great news - Dean is actually going to court the
south!

Most folks don't realize that we southerners liked to be asked for our vote. If you don't ask, don't be surprised when you don't get it!

Dean is going to make good on his promises. :bounce:

Keep me informed, I would love to go, if I can get off of work (though I really hate Jackson).

24. Dean will also be in Lawrence, KS
A friend who is in on the organizing, says Dean is making a Red State Tour. She says tickets for the event in Lawrence sold out in 2 hours. Red States are really athirst for Political leaders to speak for them. Dean is the man for that job.

42. I recall Kerry writing off the South and Dean calling for the 50 state
strategy long before Kerry won the nomination.

Kerry is not a leader. He's a follower and his biggest problem was winning the nomination. He would have been better if Dean had won the nomination and he had come in 2nd. Then Kerry could have followed Dean's lead throughout the GE, and we'd have Democratic control of the White House.

39. Great news. Howard, lets CYA in Virginia. Big welcome here!!!
When he was running, I kept hoping that the first place he'd hit was the South and that he'd spend some time there. Well, he's doing it and announced it right away. That has to impress folks down there. They'll like him and he'll like them. Why should we give this part of the country up. Virginia could go blue with some attention and we've got to make the Republicans compete everywhere.

Thanks Howard for being a smart executive. Come to Virginia!!!
