What about the Kucinich people supporting Edwards in Iowa
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 11:49 PM by Virgil
Why do people not think that the deal between Edwards and Kucinich was not part of his good showing in Iowa? There is not much reason to delve into the issue as we will see what Edwards does straight up against everyone in NH in 6 days. The thing that gets me as a DK supporter is that this does not even get mentioned for fear his message is not far behind. People would see things differently had the deal been with Dean.

The Internet and the times make it an exciting thing though. Politics is now like a football game played over 4 months instead of 4 quarters. Now their is more conversational currency in politics and the currency of sports has a challenge.

1. Edwards wins 2nd with or without kucinich
and let's face it, gep collapsed finishing with 10 less points than anybody thought he would. Kerry and Edwards took in those supporters and boosted there #'s.

4. Geppy sent many Kerry's way, too.
If it was a primary it would have looked like this:

Kerry 29%
Edwards 21%
Dean 21%
Gephardt 15%
Kucinich 8%

7. Isn't this a political campaign? Dennis is a politician.
Without the edwards alliance, the kucinich results in iowa would have looked like this: 0.0

It would have killed the spirit of his campaign and the hopes and aspirations of those who support him.

Edwards is, in addition to his war supporting, a serious champion of the american poor, and a fellow democrat. Through that agreement, the kucinich campaign came out with a win, a showing that has inspired further voters and contributors to come on board and take a risk telling the truth.

Imagine one day, that you are sitting by a road and a scared and desperate woman comes running by and turns and runs to hide in the woods behind you, begging you not to tell anyone. A man comes up with a knife in his hands and demands "Which way did she go?" Do you tell the truth? What is the truth? Do you tell him where she is so he can potentially kill or rape her? Do you tell a lie so she remains safe.

The kucinch alliance with edwards was shewd politics and further demonstrates Dennis's ability to work with other politicians to achieve the goals of his supporters...

People that are offended by that are certainly politically naive, and should stay home and watch cartoons, as reality will never satisfy.

10. I guess all those words he spouts are just for dramatic effect
Kucinich showed his colors kind of like the Patriot Act vote, that when push comes to shove, he just may not be there to back you up.

Very disappointed to see him pull his support to Edwards. I bet alot of his supporters were as well.

8. He probably got more votes from Dean defectors than Kucinich defectors.
What this did was give Edwards the seal of approval from the person farthest to the left in the campaign. Many Dean supporters must have thought Dean was the electable version of DK. DK's deal probably changed their minds.

This issue isn't going to get mentioned because, I bet you, the smear planned by the Republicans will be that Edwards is too conservative. They will try to make the left of the party hate him.

9. I am on the party's left
and I personally like the guy. I like his education plan. I bet youre right though. The deal we made did help, but I bet you guys got a lot of ex Dean supporters too. Edwards got second place for a good reason, he worked hard and had a postive attiude, and people voted for that.
