GANNON scandal leads to Bush -- read this
http://legitgov.org/index.html#breaking_news

Gannon reportedly knew about Iraq attack four hours before it happened --by John in DC - 2/18/2005 (americablog.blogspot.com) "A news producer for a major network just told me that Gannon told the producer the US was going to attack Iraq four hours before President Bush announced it to the nation. According to the producer, Gannon specifically told them that in four hours the president was going to be making a speech to the nation announcing that the US was bombing Iraq. The producer told me they were surprised that Gannon, working with such a small news outfit, could have access to such information, but 'what did you know, he was right,' the producer said today. The producer went on to say that Gannon often had correct scoops on major stories, including information about Mary Mapes and the Dan Rather BUSH/AWOL scandal that this news outlet got from Gannon before any had the information publicly."

Doubts About White House Reporter Recalled --Ari Fleischer said Thursday that a reporter calling himself Jeff Gannon who presented questionable news credentials from an obscure Internet organization, Gopusa, aroused suspicions at the White House a few years ago. ...Since it became known last week that Gannon had hid his real identity, reports on some Web sites and in The Washington Post linked James D. Guckert ("Gannon") to sexually explicit Web sites that have fueled the story and embarrassed White House officials who for years waved him into the building.

Lawmaker presses White House on 'Jeff Gannon' --Conservative former reporter has links to gay escort service --With the mystery of "Jeff Gannon" deepening, Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-N.Y., yesterday renewed her call for the White House to explain its relationship with a conservative ex-reporter linked to an online gay escort service. Slaughter said the relationship between the White House press office and "Gannon," whose real name is James Dale Guckert, was "anything but typical." The White House should "stop the stonewalling and come clean," she added, following up on her initial request a week ago.

Bush's Barberini Faun --by Maureen Dowd "I am very impressed with James Guckert, a k a Jeff Gannon. How often does an enterprising young man, heralded in press reports as both a reporter and a contributor to such sites as Hotmilitarystud.com, Workingboys.net, Militaryescorts.com, MilitaryescortsM4M.com and Meetlocalmen.com, get to question the president of the United States? Who knew
that a hotmilitarystud wanting to meetlocalmen could so easily get to be face2face with the commander in chief? ...I know the F.B.I. computers don't work, but this is ridiculous. After getting gobsmacked by the louche sagas of Mr. Guckert and Bernard Kerik, the White House vetters should consider adding someone with some
blogging experience."

3. Joe Biden was a guest on Real Time with Bill Maher last night
He seemed quite aware of the situation. I applauded him loudly from my living room when he seriously questioned where the mainstream media is on this story. He wanted to know why they weren't covering it more thoroughly and indicated that the media is seriously letting us down. I mean they sat in that press room and talked to that guy everyday for two years (that we know about) and did nothing. And not one of these so called crack journalists working the white house beat has enough sense to at least go home and google this phoney?

Fake media + Fake Values = Fake President.

14. and Biden CLEARLY stated "the press" as the problem...
Edited on Sun Feb-20-05 02:24 PM by Griffy
as Bill asked him why republicans get a "pass" on anything they do wrong... i.e. have a gay prostitute plant in the WH press pool! They know the PROPAGANDA machine is running.. and they are learning to fight it.. like we are.. the 1930's Germans failed to stop it.. there were voices of reason, and no internet! So Biden and Boxer and Clinton and all the others are learning what to do.. how to stand up to it.. and Dean will help them speak more clearly! We WILL break the back of the PROPAGANDA machine.. and then house of bush will come crumbling down!

15. Biden also pointed the finger at Spector
"In my 17 years as chair of the Judiciary Committee...." and "it is up to the chair to call investigations".

It's the friggin' mainstream rethugs covering up for the neocons.

Isn't that conspiracy and obstruction of justice?

My suggestion is to demand Guckert be arrested by the DC police on prostitution / pimiping / pornography charges. See/kick the post in the GENERAL forum for contact information, or PM me.

7. Yes, we ALL need to be writing to Congress people
demanding an investigation into the Gannon debacle and into the Bush misadministration's policy of manipulating the media by paying them to propogandize their evil agendas. This is our national security and tax dollars at stake.

2. What's the big deal?
about "...Gannon told the producer the US was going to attack Iraq four hours before President Bush announced it to the nation..."

I knew Bush was going to Attack I Iraq 6 Months before he did, and I wrote several U.S. Senators (repeatedly over those months)about it, but it's just that nobody listened to me.

I would even venture to say 45% of America knew at least a Month before. Most every Democrat, in this country, could tell * was lying when he said he wasn't going to invade Iraq:shrug:

4. It's because he used the term "Shock and Awe" and mentioned
specifics of a presidential speech that would take place for another 4 hours. Not even Faux News had reported the "Shock and Awe" campaign. And in the larger picture, if he released that information and the media picked it up - guess what? They have satellites in Baghdad. Saddam could have picked it up off Faux News, had advanced warning and gone to a more secure bunker. Get it now? He could have been fucking with our National Security.

6. That in itself made me mad
Hussein could've found out about that and that's why it took a while to get him or he could've attacked us first if he did have something (and we know he didn't). This guy went around bragging, basically, about the information he knew. How did he know such specifics when not even faux did? I know if I was a journalist (or even an aspiring one) I'd be pissed this guy got through. He obviously didn't get a background check because he was already assigned the job for Talon just a few days after they got started. The girl Jenny from Rhandi's show recently applied for the job there for them and now they're waiting to see how long it takes. Something like a background check should take at least a year or two shouldn't it?

13. Believe me, there's nothing Saddam could have done with a 2 week notice to
stop us. Bush invaded precisely because he knew that Saddam/Iraq had no battlefield WMD (radiological/chemical or biological) to throw at us.

But I understand your point...in another time or space, it would be considered treasonous to divulge something like this. But this is certainly a different time and space. Hell, this administration even reviewed the plans of battle with Saudi Arabia before announcing the invasion to the US public - and that's the country where 15/19 alledged hijackers came from.

8. The term "Shock and Awe" was mentioned months before
the invasion, at least on the Net.

in one of his press briefings before the ground war started.

Harlan Ullman is responsible for the disgusting term...which..id like to add is still the policy in iraq...stopping the electricity and running water making life hell for ordinary iraqis instead of fixing things up is part of the "shock" treatment

12. The question is
how many congressmen and senators are also his customers? I kinda doubt he was in a committed or exclusive relationship there since he was also advertising his...er...er.er...services.
