Someone PLEASE check out possible Gannon/"Buckhead" connection
I don't have the capability of doing this, but some of you sneaky bastards do.

If Gannon is the source of the TANG documents, which were an obvious White House plant, then there MUST be some connection between Gannon and "Buckhead" the Freeper blogger who raised questions about the typefont used in the documents.

Remember, "Buckhead" has been identified as Harry MacDougald, an Atlanta attorney (Buckhead is a suburb of Atlanta). He is a member of the Federalist Society and is on the Legal Advisory Board of the Southeastern Legal Foundation, which advocates "limited government, individual economic freedom, and the free enterprise system."

It should be noted here that the former CEO of the Southeastern Legal Foundation was charged with public indency after fondling himself and a (MALE) police officer in the Chattahoochie National River Park, just east of Atlanta.

There are many other facts here. Come on, folks, let's connect the dots!!

The Return of Memogate

Corey Pein provides an account of the Killian memo fiasco for Columbia Journalism Review that I endorse with enthusiasm. My only quibble is his statement that the CBS Sixty Minute Bush National Guard report was "anchored" on the Killian memos. As I remember it, the program was anchored on an interview with former Lt. Gov. of Texas, Ben Barnes, who talked about how he accepted a bribe to get Bush Jr. into the National Guard.

Pein also skips over the technical arguments for and against forgery, which was probably wise.

This paragraph interested me:
The very first post attacking the memos — nineteen minutes into the 60 Minutes II program — was on the right-wing Web site FreeRepublic.com by an active Air Force officer, Paul Boley of Montgomery, Alabama, who went by the handle “TankerKC.” Nearly four hours later it was followed by postings from “Buckhead,” whom the Los Angeles Times later identified as Harry MacDougald, a Republican lawyer in Atlanta. (MacDougald refused to tell the Times how he was able to mount a case against the documents so quickly.) Other blogs quickly picked up the charges. One of the story’s top blogs, Rathergate.com, is registered to a firm run by Richard Viguerie, the legendary conservative fund-raiser. Some were fed by the conservative Media Research Center and by Creative Response Concepts, the same p.r. firm that promoted the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. CRC’s executives bragged to PR Week that they helped legitimize the documents-are-fake story by supplying quotes from document experts as early as the day after the report, September 9. The goal, said president Greg Mueller, was to create a buzz online while at the same time showing journalists “it isn’t just Rush Limbaugh and Matt Drudge who are raising questions.”

To which I say, ah-HAH. A lot of us (including me and Keith Olbermann) smelled a rat at the time. And there it is.

On edit: Remember Richard Viguerie and Morton Blackwell are connected through the Leadership Institute, and that's where Gannon/Guckert got his "training".

I'd like to find some connections to the Young College Republicans and Gannon/Guckert, myself.

2. I'd like to know the connection between MacDougald and PowerLine.
Edited on Fri Feb-18-05 10:43 PM by Carolab
Since PowerLine (which is a website hosted by a couple of conservative lawyers here in Minneapolis-St. Paul) was among the first to jump on the Rathergate story, along with FreakRepublic.

http://www.jrlago.com/?event=news&id=4034

And, FOR THIS, PowerLine gets named a "Blog of The Year" by TIME magazine?

What do these lawyers have in common?

10. They were sent by Tom DeLay as I recall.
I doubt that DeLay was consulted about Bush's decision to hire a gay prostitute to masquerade as a White House reporter. However, DeLay's name can never be excluded with any certainty when considering the possible actors in any given republican scheme of deceit and corruption.

Look who's on the board, Howard Ahmanson, among others.

Both Powerline lawyers have been extensively published by the American Enterprise Institute and the Weekly Standard as well.

And look who has been bankrolled extensively by Ahmanson: Marvin Olasky, whore for the "Washington Times"--author of "compassionate conservatism" whose ideas inspired the creation of the new White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives.

Ahmanson, in addition to his ES&S connections, is running the biggest "anti-gay" mission in history. Olafsky is also a senior fellow on the Council for National Policy along with Ahmanson.

5. Gannon scoop shows White House Forged TANG/CBS memos?!?!

It now appears that Jeff Gannon could be the thread that unravels the real story behind the TANG/CBS forgeries. I have put together a case here that if looked at carefully by the blogosphere would show that the TANG forgeries were made by the White House, probably Dan Bartlett, and then given to Bill Burkett by a former associate of Karl Rove, Roger Stone. Stone's wife, Nydia, who is Cuban, was most likely the Hispanic lady on the phone who convinced Burkett the documents were real and that he should burn them after copying them to protect her honor.

The hot rumor in New York political circles has Roger Stone, the longtime GOP activist, as the source for Dan Rather's dubious Texas Air National Guard "memos."
...
Reached at his Florida home, Stone had no comment. (NY Post)

Gannon was apparently used by the White House to ID Mapes as the CBS producer and to try and conflate the Abu Ghraib photos she revealed as sourceless as the TANG docs.

Base Closures a Top Concern For Incoming GOP Lawmakers
by Elizabeth Book
.....Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., succeeded former committee chairman Bob Stump. Franks said he plans to support the F-16 program at Luke Air Force Base, in his district. As the FOUNDING DIRECTOR of the organization AMERICANS FOR MILITARY READINESS, Franks said, “we must recognize that our modern enemy is different, and there’s no question the United States must modernize to further commensurate with the new challenges of this enemy.”

Rick Erickson has been DIRECTOR of Americans for Military Readiness SINCE ITS INCOPORATION IN 1998. Rick is currently a Captain in the Marine Reserve and an attorney in Phoenix, Arizona. As you can see
this crowd is very eager to feed the military machine and to wage war.

How Do We Know That Our Troops Are Truly Ready for War?
By Rick Erickson
March 17, 2003
As Director of Americans for Military Readiness, I am frequently asked to define "military readiness" and to otherwise reference a checklist from which we can all be sure that, before they go, our troops are truly prepared to fight the wars we wage. As of late, there is a media frenzy about how our servicepeople can possibly be ready to protect the Homeland from terrorists, conduct a full-scale invasion of Iraq and defend allies like South Korea all at the same time.

More on Arizona/GOPUSA:
http://www.gopusa.com/arizona/

An effort is already underway to attempt to find a conservative to run for the House seat in District 8 that will open up after the current legislative session ends later this spring.
GOPUSA/Arizona is running a poll this week on the Congressional District 8 race in southern Arizona. Graf has formed an exploratory committee to determine whether or not to challenge the longtime incumbent Kolbe.
Graf, from Green Valley, is a conservative and a state representative in District 30. Kolbe is a Log Cabin Republican and liberal who supports abortion, homosexual rights, a guest worker program and who opposes the Federal Marriage Amendment.
http://www.azconservative.org/switches.htm

Arizona Republicans Unhappy with GOP's Platform Plank on Guest Worker Programs
Most Arizona Republicans think the new GOP platform does a good job in addressing social issues, but it falls far short in the area of illegal immigration, according to a GOPUSA/Arizona poll.
Seventy-one percent of respondents to the poll said the 2004 Republican platform is "good on social issues, but the amnesty plank is unacceptable." Just 2 percent expressed the sentiment that the platform is "fine." Another 25 percent said that "incrementally, the platform and the party are shifting left." And 1.9 percent said they had either not yet read it or were undecided. Exactly 700 persons participated in the recent week-long survey at www.gopusa.com/arizona.
http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:_5ScdfSHydgJ:www.azconservative.org/State%2520News%2520Briefs.htm++site:www.azconservative.org+++%22rick+erickson%22++gopusa+&hl=en

90 Percent Say AFRW's Greener Should Go
In a recent GOPUSA/Arizona survey, 90 percent of respondents said that Dot Greener should either resign or be removed as president of the Arizona Federation of Republican Women.
As reported last week by The Arizona Conservative, Greener broke federation by-laws by working for the election of a Democrat. Greener collected nominating petition signatures for Patricia Gerrodette, a Democrat running for the city council in Sierra Vista.
The National Federation of Republican Women has not responded publicly to the Greener scandal.

GOPUSA is actually almost a national organisation.
Behold the reach of its tentacles.
