Hannity Attacking Kerry: Record of Defence-Cut Votes, Undermining CIA Ops
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 09:47 PM by WiseMen
Hannity now bringing up Kerry history of seeking to curtail military spending and refering to his efforts as Chairman of the Senate
Subcommittee on Terrorism, Narcotics and International Operations as one of undermining CIA operations -- etc.

Question his electability because of this "horrible" national security record plus his Kennedy-like voting record of domestic policy.

Hannity still insists that he is "endorsing" Dean.

Do folks here agree with Mr. Hannity Or with John Kerry

27. Sean Hannity is actually, literally, a nightmare
He just recently made the leap from the dream world.

He was considered a dangerous insane demented soul-crusher there, too.

He was dragged from the worst reaches of the worst reaches to destroy us all.

And play golf.

I'm surprised he isn't saying that Kerry was the architect of Saddam's Rape Rooms.

15. Now, now
Kerry is a democrat. Hannity is more likely to accuse him of being the interior decorator of Saddam's Rape Rooms.

Sorry, but when it comes to national security issues and defense I'll keep the counsel of people like Max Cleland, John Kerry and Wesley Clark.

11. Defense bills Kerry voted against is one of their weapons
but it was all about Pentagon pork and accountability- much the same reason he voted against the 87 billion.

Next! (try again sean)

21. I don't think so.
Disclaimer:

I know that it's from the Globe and they don't seem to care for Kerry but:

http://www.boston.com/globe/nation/packages/kerry/061903.shtml

In his zeal to keep pace with Shannon's leftward drift on disarmament, Kerry supported cancellation of a host of weapons systems that have become the basis of US military might -- the high-tech munitions and delivery systems on display to the world as they leveled the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein in a matter of weeks.

These weapons became conversation topics at American dinner tables during the Iraq war, but candidate Kerry in 1984 said he would have voted to cancel many of them -- the B-1 bomber, B-2 stealth bomber, AH-64 Apache helicopter, Patriot missile, the F-15, F-14A and F-14D jets, the AV-8B Harrier jet, the Aegis air-defense cruiser, and the Trident missile system.

He also advocated reductions in many other systems, such as the M1 Abrams tank, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, the Tomahawk cruise missile, and the F-16 jet.

In retrospect, Kerry said some of his positions in those days were "ill-advised, and I think some of them are stupid in the context of the world we find ourselves in right now and the things that I've learned since then."

<<>>

Kerry has disavowed the positions of his past. However, the record still stands. Personally, I would have prefered he stuck with these original postions. The repugs will clearly take the other side.

14. Kerry's been a target for over 30 years. Why stop now?
Nixon tapes revealed their plan to bring Kerry down. They planted stories about Kerry being a "phony" and a closet commie.

They ramped it up when he went after them on BCCI and IranContra. Scaife Arkansas Projected Kerry a few years before Clinton.

They NEVER stopped. Too bad so many believe 30 years of planted stories.

20. I never agree with Hannity, or even watch him for that matter
On the other hand, Kerry does have a record on this. Even he admits it and now disavows it.

Get used to hearing the theme. If Kerry gets the nomination you will hear it over and over right on through to November.

The evidence is stronger for this meme than the "Al Gore invented the internet" thing. I am not saying I believe it or approve of it. But I suggest you get used to hearing it because I am quite sure that they will not let this one go.

40. Here's Kerry's big chance to say something!
I'm not holding my breath...

Here's Kerry's "support" of Gary Webb, the San Jose Mercury News reporter who tried to get this out to the public:

Senator John Kerry (D-MA), Chairman of that sub-Committee, had this to say about the recent allegations raised by Mr. Webb and others, "There is no question in my mind that people affiliated with, or on the payroll of the CIA were involved in drug trafficking while involved in support of the Contras, but it is also important to note that we never found any evidence to suggest that these traffickers ever targeted any one geographic area or population group."

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/forum/october96/crack_contra_11-1.html

Even though that's not what Gary Webb claimed, Kerry chose to argue with a strawman, the same way the DCI "cleared" themselves of claims that were never made. As far as I know Kerry did NOTHING to stop the smears against Gary Webb by the Walter Pincus at the Washington Post and the LA Times.

Kerry left Webb hung out to dry. That must be what Kerry means by "leadership".

gives Hannity even a bare modicum of credibility. He's just one of many RW jerkoffs on TV slamming all things progressive. The only people that pay any attention to him, are the people who would never think of voting for a Kerry, a Dean, or a Clark in the first place.
