Bush is crapping his pants
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 07:15 PM by ArtieBoy
ABC World News Tonight just ran a story about Bush campaigning in Ohio. He was saying something to the effect of, "I know the hard times aren't over in Ohio...people are still looking for work." Despite the rah-rah, isn't everything great tone of his SOTU, he's going to have to go state-to-state apologizing for the malaise that has settled and thrived over the nation in his tenure. "Well, overall things are great, but I know here in (Ohio, Georgia, Pennsylvania, etc. etc.) times are still hard."

I noticed he also seemed relieved to hear his bitches in Congress cheering on cue last night. He needs the encouragement. I think he was also relieved to not have mispronounced anything. Come on...we put Edwards up against this guy, he's toast and he knows it!

!--On edit it was NBC, not ABC--!

1. I hope Ohio doesn't buy it and votes for us.
No Republican has ever won the White House without Ohio. It would bode well for us. :)

2. Ohio is looking better and better for Dems
Everytime Bush* goes north of I-70 and east of I-71 he is met with protestors. I'll be he heads back to Cincinnati the next time. He is not welcome here.

3. Edwards, or...
any of the democratic candidates could spank him in a debate. But that alone will not translate into a victory in November. Our party has to speak the language that the majority of the voters in this country understand, and support.

11. Particularly after his mumbling, stuttering, incoherent debate performance
Yet even then, some voters interviewed said that Gore struck them as "too smart". Yessiree, you can't have a president who's "too smart".

Yeah, Gore's grasp of issues and ideas just couldn't hold a candle to manly, assured Chimp-esque quips like "Ahve gotta strategy fur the Middle East."

17. I know, hatrack. It's so frustrating.
To have a smart president? What a concept! The world has been turned on its head.

In a sane world, everyone would run screaming from the Idiot *, but...

6. you didn't mention the protestors!
There were plenty of them and they were angry, too. Most of the signs were about no jobs.

This is the second time I've seen the networks report bush getting protested recently. I could hardly believe it when they showed protestors last week and said that he was "jeered."

10. Well, yeah
Okay, he didn't mispronounce anything he hasn't mispronounced before :).

And yes, the protestors! Fabulous! Loads of them! People are standing up!

I like sharp, graphic language that paints a strong picture. That one seemed to fit. But you won't read this since I'm on ignore :(.

9. I had tears in my eyes watching that story.
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 07:16 PM by VolcanoJen
ON EDIT: The story I watched was on ABC News.

Being an Ohioan, I'm fully aware of how hard we've been hit by the Bush recession.

Watching that 49-year-old man delivering pizzas, talking about how his wife has stood by him even though he feels he'll never find another well-paying job, was almost more than I could bear.

How many stories are there? How many Americans have experienced the exact same thing? How many must choke back their pride, march into a low-paying, low-esteem, no-health-insurance job every single day? While the rich accumulate more wealth than ever imaginable... Americans suffer.

:-( :-( :-(

12. all part of the plan, sadly...
I wonder how many people in that situation are blaming it all on the 'libruls' over-taxing them? :eyes:

Unfortunately too many Americans find it impossible to believe that this could be them, next :(

13. I've lived that story.
I'm in Atlanta. I was working at a small town radio station that was also owned by the local cable company. The cable company was sold to Adelphia Cable in 2000 (you know, the 80 year old guy in handcuffs from the news.)

Six months later I landed a job at Worldcom. Three months later, 11,000 of us got laid off from Worldcom! Two jobs in less than a year!

I had a job as a tax examiner for one tax season, then a friend helped me get a job driving a delivery van at Kinko's. I was 32, with a college degree and work experience, even got a couple of awards for radio news reporting, and here I was mopping a stock room and pushing around a cart full of boxes while people looked down their nose at me. My Repug "friends" were fond of saying, "You're not owed anything!" Then my friend and I were both forced out of Kinko's for reasons I still can't decipher.

Gladly I have a better job coming up in February and irons in the fire at a larger radio station, but this has doubtlessly been the worst three years I've had in my adult life, and ever hope to see. The only thing comparable was when all of my friends' dad's were out of work for years under Bush, Sr.

GO, DEAN, GO! GO, EDWARDS, GO! March forward, Al Franken Army! :)

14. Yes Mr. Bush there are SO many good jobs
you have created during your tenure! (sarcasm) Lots of minimum wage jobs with no insurance, no security, no hope of advancement. Yep that trickle- down economics is working really well! Aieeee. How can he go anywhere in the Rust Belt or anywhere for that matter and talk about how much the economy is improving!
