The Dean Scream
The Pukes are once again trying to demean Dean by playing "The Scream." I say we turn it around by making it a rallying cry, sort of like "Remember The Alamo", and take pride in the scream instead of letting the Riech Wing use it against us.

YEAAAAAHHHH!

Started out as a Brit diss, turned around and used to rally us to kick their butts.

I think we should be proud of "the scream" and all scream in unison!
This was such a dirty campaign...I always thought that the MSM wanted Kerry to run instead of Dean, and were very instrumental in the destruction of the Dean candidacy in the Primaries.

Dean: Rove and I have a lot in common. We're both cheerleaders for our teams. I may be more vocal than him, but maybe he can get some pointers from his boss from his cheerleading days at Andover.

just an idea.

That's funny. Way to go on Dean using the cheerleading thing. LOL. It's not bad for a guy to be a cheerleader but with Bush it's funny cause they try SOOO hard to make him be a tough guy that's why it's so hilarious.

8. The Dean Scream is completely made up and fake.
It was due to a unidirectional microphone used by Dean that didn't record the sounds of the crowd. When you listen to a tape made by someone in the crowd, the scream is barely audible. In fact, he had the crowd so rallied that they were all screaming as loud (or louder) than he was.

Committee meeting, we start the meeting with a Dean scream.

We all scream in unison at the beginning of each meeting.

We have a loud Dean scream when we start the business meeting part of our annual picnic.

Let's all be Dean screamers!

I will put it on the agenda.

12. How about they show what really happened
I think it was on Link TV that they showed the clip from someone in the audience that night with the sounds of the screaming crowd but couldn't hear Dean. You remember, there was the mic that only picked up Deans voice and not the crowds? There are no doubt several videos that night that could be used over and over.

13. While the "Scream" was "meaningful" then, it is irrelevant to "now"
I propose that if the Repugs want to play Dean's scream, then they surely can play the MANY asshole shit dumbass comments that Bush has said on camera..after all, he's the President.

Are they too scared to do so? Are they pussies that can't show their "leader" making an ass out of the Presidency and America? We have the video. They have the video.

Whenever they talk about the Monkey King, surely they could play some of his many "comments" to make their point that he's doing a "great job".

Are they cowards? By all means, yes. They HAVE NO BALLS.

I think it shows just how motivated he is to get this country back from the repugs.

So what if the mic only picked him up, not the crowd? In my book, they spun it as lunacy, but they were scared to death. Dean got the people moving again, they had to do something to stop him.

23. I saw him on tv one day, and somebody asked whether he was
embarassed by the whole episode, and he said, in so many words, "HELL, NO!" That made me like him SOOOO much! If they had kept it in the context it was presented in and left IN all the background cheering, it would have come across much differently.

Maybe it all worked out for the best. I was not a Dean supporter originally, and supported Kerry in the primaries, but today DEAN is the man for me. Strength of convictions, unwavering in his opinions, willing to put up a FIGHT!

28. If * can make his stupidity funny, and a good thing (he frequently does)
then we can certainly make The Dean Scream (TM) a good thing.

Maybe Dean should start out by trademarking it, and then charging the media a usage fee every time they play it!

Seriously, dumb-ass always makes fun of his stupidity, his speech impediment, his senility, and his lack of basic knowledge of the issues. His speech writers craft self-effacing jokes that are doubly effective: they entertain his disciples and endear him to them; and worse they annoy and enrage us because they are an arrogant nose thumbing at anyone who is not stupid.

The Dean Scream could serve that purpose for us (rallying cry for progressives, and disoreinting rage and contempt generator for the kool-aid drinkers). More importantly, it is a CONCRETE DEMONSTRATION of how the major media manipulates public perception.

It was used by the media to derail Dean and to marginalize and ridicule him. Their endless repletion of the audio byte went far beyond mere reporting of information and was blatantly a coordinated negative PR career smear campaign. It serves to remind Americans how the media manipulates public perception by selective reporting and by repetition and timing of the news.

29. Our spokespoeple and surrogates need to do the turnaround
Edited on Fri Feb-11-05 09:32 AM by John_H
They need to put up the video that accurately records the scream all over the web---maybe even on the DNC website with some humerous, republican bashing text, something about the all things rethugs do to make working americans in every state scream or something like that.

Then the line for the whores is this: "The republicans are rehashing the same doctored video they used last year. Anyone can see the real video at www.therealdean.com. People ought to be asking why do george bush supporters always have to resort to lies and distortions to personally attack their opponents? Can't their policies stand onm their own.?"

When Judies of the world bring it up the surrogate should say:"Why would you continue to report on a doctored video? Have you seen the real iowa video Judy? If you did, I bet you'd be asking your next republican guest why they always use false information and doctored video, and lies to personally attack their opponents. Is it because their policies can't be supported on their own?

Here's a free one, DNC kidz, and you don't even have to pay me whatever you're paying the consultants telling you to practive your judo chess.

33. My $.02 on the scream...
I think the good doctor got some bad advice. Had I been advising the campaign, I'd have told Dean to "own" the scream. Make it part of every campaign speech. Get the audience to repeat it. When interviewers ask about use word tracks like: "You want to know why I'm screaming? I'm screaming because I'm excited about they way we're taking this country back" or "Rising deficits, rising body counts in Iraq, rising unemployment.. why aren't YOU screaming. If you're not screaming, you don't understand the situation."

If Howard had "owned" the scream, he'd have been as popular as a rock star... and he'd be President today.

brought him down by painting the Dean scream as "crazy" that he's invented another Dean scream. Rove knows the Repubs got a lot of mileage out of spinning Dean as a whack job, that he's trying to do it again. Wow, Rove must be shaking in his cowboy boots over the power Dean could wield with Dems!
