Click on the CAMPAIGNS link of DU above

Go to the Local Media Blaster

Write a Letter to the Editor and send to ALL media outlets in your state about the offensive, outrageous and slimy attack by the RNC on Harry Reid. (Doesn't need to be long - 2 or 3 sentences.)

THEN FAX a copy of your LTTE to your Senators and Reps, and then as many more Republican Senators and Reps as you have time for. LET US COVER THE CAPITOL IN FAXES. NOW. Get those fax machines spitting out protest letters like there is no tomorrow. Start with FRIST and HASTERT.

The RNC is bunch of cheating, lying slimeballs. Let's soak the media with THAT bit of "research".

DO THIS NOW. JUST DO IT!!!!!

HERE'S THE SPECIFIC ATTACK THAT NEEDS TO BE COUNTERED:

After GOP Attack, Reid Comes to White House Dinner With a Bitter Taste in His Mouth

By Charles Babington

Tuesday, February 8, 2005; Page A05

It's safe to assume that the mood at the White House dinner table last night was a bit more tense than usual. A few hours before dining with President Bush and a handful of others, Minority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) took the Senate floor to rebuke the president and his political party for a 13-page mass-mail attack on Reid, authored by the Republican National Committee.

"Is this how he wants to be a uniter?" Reid asked in his speech. The RNC, he said, "is his committee," so how can Bush call for bipartisanship one minute and then "send out scurrilous letters saying that I'm a bad guy? In great detail. I mean, is President George Bush a man of his word? . . . Mr. President, I call upon you to repudiate this document, to tell the Republican National Committee, 'Don't mail it.' "

The RNC document, first reported by Roll Call, is headlined "Reid All About It," and contains a list of complaints about Reid's voting record and statements about judges, Social Security, taxes and other topics. It says Reid is "out of touch with mainstream America," has an "extreme environmental record" and is a "Scrooge in senator's clothing." The language echoes GOP attacks on Reid's predecessor, Thomas A. Daschle (S.D.), who lost a bitter race last fall to John Thune (R).

RNC spokesman Brian Jones said his committee is sending the newsletter to about a million activists, journalists and others. "Harry Reid's record speaks for itself," he said in an interview. White House spokeswoman Claire Buchan said: "The president has been reaching out to Republicans and Democrats alike, and he looks forward to continuing to do so."

5. That's pretty broad. Do you have some specific examples we could cite?
I haven't watching MSM in the last several days. I don't want to make a broad sweeping criticism that sounds hysterical.

10. Question: Are these WH spokespeople on our dime?
Because it used to be, they spoke policy in the national interest, not naked attack politics.

13. Yes.
Everyone in the west wing is on the federal payroll. In other words, your taxes pay turdblossom's salary.

However, Reid's letter to * is a request to call off Mehlman and the RNC, which is a seperate entity.

14. Thanks. Is it separate if federal employees are commenting on it
publicly? Not really. I think this may be a good hook because it's technically illegall.

"Dear So&So, While I want to support President B* as our national leader. I object to federal employees engaging in political attacks on the Democratic leadership. We pay these folks to forward the wellbeing of the Nation, not to provide political cover for the RNC."

11. If Reid's a good guy, he'll filibuster Chertoff and get our full support.
Six Dems just voted in committtee to endorse "waterboard" torture. I'm not feeling too good about our leaders today. If Reid is truly a good guy, he'll turn them around and get them to oppose this form of torture.

18. God, I wish we could get our message out like that
Tom DeLay is a despicable human being, but we sure wouldn't want to say anything negative about him. It seems like the strategy since the 2000 election has been to wait for them to call us names and then play like our feelings our hurt. Of course the RNC issued a 13-page letter attacking Reid. They're the RNC, and that's what they do. We need to defend Reid, sure, but we also need to breed a few more pit bulls of our own, cuz this shit ain't gonna stop.
