Pentagon created 500 sites to look like real news sites..Propaganda.....
Edited on Sat Feb-05-05 01:54 PM by ElsewheresDaughter
I heard a talking head lastnight say that the Pentagon either paid 500 journalists to write for these sites or have created 500 sites? sites that are created to look like real news sites but they are not!...YIKES! anyone have a list?...Taxpayer hard earned $$$dollars again being spent on BUSH PROPAGANDA! http://www.balkantimes.com/

NYT has an article "Pentagon Investigating Paymebt for Articles"
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/02/05/politics/05websites.html

<snip>
At the request of Lawrence Di Rita, chief spokesman for defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, they said, the Pentagon's inspector general is reviewing that case and also looking more broadly at Pentagon activities that might involve inappropriate payments to journalists."

<snip>
" The Balkins Web site, called "Southeast European Times, as well as a second (called Magharebia) for audiences in North Africa, have immediately obvious connection to the American government. But they have a linked disclaimer that says they are "sponsered by U.S. European Command," the military organization based in Germany that is responsible for American military activities in Europe and parts od Africa."

2. Wouldn't it be simplier just to list the legitimate journalists/sites?
Why go through all the effort provide us pages of names when one index card can hold the names of the legitimate journalists?

Good thing that the Pentagon upgraded its computers to handle these kind of huge databases.

4. The abuse by the neoCONspirators is appalling.
I'm not so much interested in the identities of those hired/paid as I am the facts PROVING that the neoCON administration's actions fall within the realm of "high crimes and misdemeanors", abuse of power, and breach of oath to the American people.

War is an economic tool. Period.
Much can be learned here.

8. This is serious shit. The military arm controlling "news"?
Damn. That is about as fascist as anything can be,...considering it's tied into corporate profiteering.

WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!!

These enemies of democracy have learned how to manage perceptions SO WELL that they are convincing their victims "it feels good" to be betrayed, spent, EATEN ALIVE.

I am HUGELY grateful that at least half of those who participated in the "voting process" took a stand. However, there are way too many Americans being SCREWED by this incredibly manipulative regime.

We have to work harder against these EVIL assholes. We cannot ever let this corruption get any free pass!!!

10. I swear they must have over 500 Think Tanks including other nefarious
websites devoted 24/7 to cranking out "Talking Points" to feed CNN/MSNBC/FAUX and the WA PO, NYT's and their Media Conglomerate Newspapers all over America. If we are Drowning in Righ Wing Disinformation it's because there are so many of them being funded by Whom????? Mellon-Scaife might have billions but isn't he running on a half empty tank after the Clinton/Monica/Whitewater Fiasco?

Just who is funding all this? It's gotta be our government! Even the Corporatists don't have enough funds to keep the RW'ers going on C-Span every day.

If only we could get to the bottom of all this funding...WHAT IF IT'S THE AMERICAN TAXPAYER...after all whose been giving funds to this crap thats dismantling our whole Culture...and safeguards and stability?

WHAT IF??? How do We KNOW? It's been easy to blame Pittsburg's Claim to Fame...Mellon-Scaife and the Merks/Phizer's in the Drug Industry plus the various Wall St. Investment Houses...but what IF IT WAS OUR OWN MONEY? That's what worries me...that they've been snaking deals and getting funding from our Government Agencies to do their dirty work for decades and none of us knew! Clinton didn't know...it was all hidden in "budget requests from Congress." What If? :scared:

13. Several points...
1. They aren't "controlling" the news, they are, possibly, selectively reporting.

2. There is a Disclaimer and an "About Us" section on the site that are both very upfront about who runs the site.
