My 80 y/o Mother Just Got A Taste of MSM Bait & Switch.....
she watchs local Fox News here in Chicago for the weather every night. She called me up before the weather because she said that Walter Jacobson (once anchor now an editorial sage) was going to talk about Social Security. She told me to watch it. She said all thru the news report they were touting his editorial on SS. So I turned on the program and when Walter (affectionately known as Skippy here in Chicago) came on - all he did was show exerpts of * and the SOTU address and fawn over how good it was and that it was the best speech * ever delivered. He showed pictures of *'s smirk; *'s winking; and said that * was the most relaxed he's ever seen him. He went on to show Kerry, Hillary and Biden clapping for the Chimp. He said polls showed that not only did he think it was a great speech - but most people that watched it all over the country thought so as well. He said * got just over 50% of the people to vote for him - but now in excess of 60% liked his speech.

He didn't say one word about SS.

It was clearly - BAIT: media hype to get people to watch because they thought he would talk about an issue that means so much to them - and then - SWITCH: talk up the Chimp and get the people that are marginal or less about * to think that maybe they are wrong about * and he really is a great president.

Needless to say - after the editorial - she called me up - just flabbergasted that he didn't talk about SS. She told me that she turned off the SOTU last night because she can't stand to look at *. She couldn't believe that Skippy didn't talk about SS.

I told her she just got taken in by MSM Bait & Switch.

We just got off the phone now - because she went on to tell me how important SS was/is to her and she wouldn't know what she would do without it. She said she feels sorry for all those people that will get taken in by *'s Piratization Retirement Account plan. (Note: the PRA is editorial librerty on my interpretation of what she said). She asked what can she do to prevent * and Co from messing with SS. She said when Roosevelt got this passed - they should have legislated that it could never be taken away.

She was so incensed she went on a long disertation about the "Depression".

My feeling is that the Seniors - will not stand for any major changes to SS that would effect anyone that put any money into it. *Co's tactic of saying that people 55+ don't have anything to worry about - won't work. He won't be able to sell that.

It's interesting to note that * said "everything is on the table" - no decisions have been made how to 'fix' SS. So how can he say at the SOTU and go around the country that the 55+er's won't have anything to worry about.

We all know that the backroom deals have been cut already and he knows exactly what he wants to happen.

I'm just sickened by the whole mess.

2. I won't watch Fox News Chicago at all.
In fact the only time Fox is ever on our television set is for football games.

Very interesting to see that Skippy Jacobsen has gone over to the dark side.

I remember when he was with WBBM Channel 2 and was so self-righteous and would constantly pontificate about corruption and wrong doing by the then current mayoral administration.

Just another typical media whore. Shame on Skippy...

3. I hope you're right
about the seniors and SS. My future and all of our futures, I think, depend on this. We can't let them take something away that we have to help our people just because of some greedy bastards. I've noticed on most of these shows they'll talk about the issue for a few minute's and in all of that they're hyping up Bush like a whore does to a horney man at a strip club. When they do have democrats on they hardly let them speak. I saw a few min's of Mr. Clark on "Hardball" and from what I saw he maybe said two/three sentences at the most before Matthews returned to the republican guy. :eyes:

4. Saw * talking to the ?maybe Fargo group, (one of the two places he went
to today) and he was talking about the plan, and he got all confused, didn't even know what the plan was...so, my take on it is you're right, the backroom boys have it all put together the way they want it, and he doesn't really know the plan or care...
