Chairs/Vice Chairs reject Fowler recommendation. Dean wins first vote
Edited on Mon Jan-31-05 01:31 PM by Rose Siding
Update: The Chairs and Vice Chairs rejected the recommendation of the Executive Committee to back Fowler. They then did a roll-call vote, which Dean won:

The ASDC ballot (state chairs and vice chairs)

Dean 56
Fowler 21
Frost 5
Roemer 3
Rosenberg 3
Webb 3
Leyland 0
Abstain 5
That's 56% for Dean on the first ballot among the ASDC; alongside Dean's continued backing within the DNC At-Large Members (and Labor is rumored to be next on board), Dean's in the homestrech and leading all alone.

1. I'm backing Fowler
We need a fresh new face and Fowler has been a dynamic success wherever he's worked. Everybody raves about the guy.

13. He Has A Speech Impediment And Didn't Make A Good Speech...
I don't think he'd be any good and he's from one of the most conservative states in the union, South Carolina and wouldn't be anywhere without the old family name, a al George W....

2. Whew
I was scared for a while that we would see a repeat of his presidential bid with the news from earlier this morning. Finally, something to be happy about with the Dem Party

4. I Don't Understand the Voting
If Dean had 56% on the first ballot, doesn't he win? Is there a supermajority requirement or is this not the official body that votes?

10. I don't know how many are in the ASDC itself
Less than 100 voted here and are said to be state chairs and vice chairs. I should change the subject line- it's a plurality of those voting here, but I don't know how to account for their number.

8. This is not the DNC voting.
It is the ASDC, all of whom happen to be DNC members, so its a very good leading indicator for Dean.

9. The battle for the soul of the Dem Party sure is interesting, ...
even if all we're catching is rumors an occaisonaly leaks from inside-the-Party manueverings. Seems we Deanocrats on the outside do have lots of friends on the inside.

I won't have anything to do with the DNC if they impose Fowler on us. Not one damn dime to them because they'll have proven that they couldn't care less what the people think.
