Dean Supporters, Don't Give Up ... from Michael Moore
Moore's message:

This morning I picked up the newspaper and read this quote from a young woman who had worked as a volunteer for Howard Dean in Iowa:

"All the phone-calling we did, we'd have people who’d say, 'I'm a Dean supporter, I’m a Dean supporter,’" said Kelly Chambers, Dr. Dean's captain in Precinct No. 83. "But when it came to caucus night, we only had 11 people show up for Dean. It just seems like all my hard work's been for nothing."

...snip...

But in the meantime, let's tip our hats to Deaniacs everywhere. They've set the tone and the bar and have jump-started the movement to save our country. Good friends in the Dean camp, please don't give up. We need you now and we will need you in November. And, to Precinct 83 Captain Kelly Chambers, all your hard work has NOT been in vain. We cannot win without you.

One year from today, at 12:01 PM, Bush leaves office. But only if the revolution you ignited continues beyond this week.

Yours,
Michael Moore

2. Thank you, Michael Moore.
That is so much nicer than all the stupid jokes that have been going around in the last 24 hours.

We will need Dean's, and everyone elses' supporters in the fall.

Don't you wish the mainstream press could be this decent to everyone?

I hope this gets reprinted and widely read.

4. Begging me not to give up? Tips his hat to me? What an arrogant prick
My letter to Michael:

Michael--

Thanks for your truly inspiring message! But guess what--even though we lost one primary--we're not giving up yet!

Ya heard me right! I know that must sound amazing to the supporter of someone who didn't participate. But you tell Wes next time you talk to him, that damn it anyway, we're extremely grateful he joined the Democratic party to help us beat Bush. I mean, even though he thinks Bush was 'doing a great job', he signed on anyway. Awesome!

Onward and upward,

wtmusic

5. Oh come on
Gimme a fucking break. He was trying to extend the olive branch and you slap it out of his hand. Are you denying that there were a significant and very visible contingent of Dean supporters who appeared to be low after the poor showing in Iowa? Not everything is done with malice.

6. An olive branch?
How do you figure? His assumption is clearly that Dean's campaign is over. After one caucus.

I know it's not done with malice. It's done with arrogance, with the kind of fatherly advice he feels qualified to give after being successful with three liberal films (two of which I like very much).

7. Well
I think what he is saying is DON'T assume it's over because of one state. Obviously he can't necessarily be pulling for Dean, what with having a horse in the race and all, but he is being strongly supportive of Dean supporters. Thats to be commended. If he thought it was over he would have been much more clear about directing Dean supporters on to other tasks or other campaigns.

8. he was being nice polite and heartfelt.
don't be so hostile.

Compare that to what other non-deaners are saying about Dean.

GO DEAN!
