Agree or Disagree: Rice was an easier target because of her race & gender
Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 01:30 PM by Used and Abused
You won't hear too much whining from Republicans who hate women and minorities in positions of leadership.

Edited: It's true, the media will spin it as racist/sexist, but I'm talking about the average, everyday Republicans. Spin or no spin, they don't give a damn if a black woman is kept from becoming the SoS.

Or do you type that way to make yourself stand out from the crowd. If that's the case, it's worked. I've noticed you. :) Now I need my own gimmick. :D

5. No, I believe she was a tougher target
because of these things. Democrats want to see minorities and women succeed for the most part so being a minority and a woman shelters one somewhat from criticism from the Democrats.

Republicans have accused her opponents of being prejudiced against her race & gender.

It's a good way to distract the world from her absolute incompetence.

She was an easy target because she would have the audacity to claim that a PDB entitled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in US" didn't qualify as a warning--and was somehow old news. She was also an easy target because she never met with Bush after receiving that PDB. That's just for starters.

11. Not at all
for Democrats to oppose Rice is more difficult because of her race and gender, in my opinion, becuz african americans and women are a big part of our base. But those who do oppose her are right because of her policy decisions especially with regards to Iraq.

13. Disagree. She was a harder target
Because when people see her attacked, they cry racism and sexism and boy's club.

Unlike, of course, during the Clarence Thomas hearings where attacking and impuning the integrity of a black woman was completely acceptable.

Maybe what we need to do is make sure that only black women attack Condie.

They are already calling the Democrats racist for questioning Condi in any way. It would be racist to NOT judge her actions and words and instead give her a pass because she is a black women.

17. She was an easy target because she was a pathetic failure
She was the National Security Advisor during the biggest national security failure in the history of the nation. How much more of a f***up do you need?

If the security guard at a bank sleeps through the biggest robbery in history, do you promote him to the head guard postion at Fort Knox, or do you fire his ass?

She is an easy target simply because she is an easy target.

because they don't support the incompetent liar, Condi and the torture loving Gonzales. I don't support them, because they both suck.

Following their logic, why don't the Republicans support Conyers and Jesse Jackson?

28. right on the mark
However, it's not so much that we're out of agreement on it in more than a passing intellectual way - it's that the counteroffensive will be exactly that she's black and a woman to try to make her detractors look like small minded bigots and waste time claiming that it's not about her being black or a woman.

FORTUNATELY at least her detractors were also women and multicultural.

35. You are right
she is more difficult to challenge. The * administration has all race, gender, but the one thing that ties them is they all have the same ideology. That ideology is not Dem. or Repb. it is dream of what can happen and take action on it now. Really stupid because to many variables involved to make a correct determination and to costly. Who can tell the future? I am a believer in REALITY!:kick:

30. She didn't do her job. period.
Wasn't she appointed by Shrub a few months after we invaded Iraq to oversee the "effort" over there?

And what does she have to show for it? She's been practically AWOL on IRAQ the entire time except when they need to trot her out to repeat the admin line.

The NSA has one helluva budget and she was and is too enept to use her resources wisely, both before 9/11 and after.

She's a Cold War Relic despite her younger age, and should never have been brought back to government.

For someone as smart as she is, Condi doesn't have a lick of sense.

I wonder if that's why Obama voted for her. I'm sure there are a lot of Democrats who don't want to question a black woman's right to be SOS. If she were a white man - boy - the gloves would have been off in 2001!!

because it naturally puts those who vote against her for noble reasons to defend racial and gender tolerance. My guess is that under the exact circumstances as Condi comes in with, a white male would receive fewer opposing party yeah votes.
