5. Senate dems are GOPs' prison bitches now.
that's the way the power game works: take daily beatings, or submit - so it doesn't feel like you're taking daily beatings.

6. She was one of the most inept security advisors ever
at a time when this country very much needed a strong advisor. She lied, lock and step with the administration to invade Iraq and along with this corrupt administration is responsible for thousands upon thousands of deaths of innocent men, women, and children. But she now gets a pass and is elevated to a very important cabinet post. Make no bones about it. This administration wants to turn the Middle East into a waste lane with oil companies lining up for the profits. Iran, Syria, Lebanon. They will take them all down givin' the chance. and Biden wants to confirm? Shame on him.

7. Just like the republicans did
Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 09:27 AM by Donna Zen
for all of the Clinton nominations!

Oh...wait a minute Joe...the republicans smeared the Clinton nominees and refused to vote for them. They may be wrong, they may be assholes, but republicans have spines and know how to use them.

So how minutes will go by before the next Biden for president thread gets posted?

18. Wanna place a bet..
.... as to whether Kerry votes to confirm. I'm betting he will, and that is part and parcel of why I'm done with him.

All this "tough questioning" is just a bunch of posturing bullshit. Everyone knows it will fall into the memory hole within weeks. But the vote will be recorded, history.

And some are just too afraid to be on the "wrong" side of history.

9. Biden is a jackass
Dr. Rice is a disaster, she's gotten many people killed. And many more will die in the future due partly to her bungles.

Citizens pay taxes to this country so they can defend us. All Dr. Rice and Joe are doing is raising the threat to this nation's citizens, not lowering it.

Useless pieces of you know what.

.......Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Richard Lugar opened Tuesday's hearing with warm words about Rice, who has served a mostly behind-the-scenes role at the White House for the past four years. He called her "highly qualified'' for the post.
Biden also praised Rice, but noted that "relations with many of our oldest friends are quite frankly scraping the bottom right now.''
However, Biden also had blunt advice for European critics: "I have one simple message: Get over it. Get over it. President Bush is our president for the next four years. So get over it and start to act in your interest, Europe.''..........

Nothing would shock me from this guy. Not even him carrying W's baby.

14. I wonder if...
...Europe will find a subtle way to say:

"We can't stand Bush, he's destroying everything we (Europe and the U.S. &c.) have worked for since WWII and even before, and we'll do what we can to limit the damage if not thwart him. Get over it and start to act in your interest, America."

17. Hey, lay offa Biden. He and Condi and Cheney gotta golf date tomorrow!
Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 09:47 AM by eg101
You wanna harsh their buzz, dude?!
Look, Biden is a SENATOR. And the way the constitution was created and the govt was set up, senators have a certain role to play in the govt. Here is what James Madison, the father of the constitution (he wrote most of it) had to say about the Senate:

During the debates in the Federal Convention of 1787, he said the following: "In England, at this day, if elections were open to all classes of people, the property of landed proprietors would be insecure. An agrarian law would soon take place. If these observations be just, our government ought to secure the permanent interests of the country against innovation. Landholders ought to have a share in the government, to support these invaluable interests and to balance and check the other. They ought to be so constituted as to protect the minority of the opulent against the majority. The Senate, therefore, ought to be this body."

So, get on yer knees like a good little American....Biden and company have a role to play in America, and now you know what it is....

Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 09:54 AM by robbedvoter
I remember distinctively that madison's idea was that House and Senate should cool each other - like pouring tea from the cup to the saucer.
As it is, it comes down hot on our heads.
