AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 18 /U.S. Newswire/ -- In contrast to several blue wristband initiatives lauched since the November election, the TRUE BLUE Project, based in Austin, Texas, is passing along proceeds from TRUE BLUE American wristbands sales to individuals harmed by Bush administration policies.

"The day after Bush was declared the winner, anti-Bush rhetoric became irrelevant," said Deborah Smith, one of the TRUE BLUE organizers. "The Republican administration are masters of talking about values but have done little to apply the talk to make the average American's life better." Ms. Smith, a social services professional and mother of three went on to say that: "It has become abundantly apparent that many middle-Americans have been significantly hurt by Bush policies."

Howard Dean, in a recent message announcing his candidacy for the Chairmanship of the Democratic National Committee, said: "That word --'values' -- has lately become a codeword for appeasement of the right-wing fringe. But when political calculations make us soften our opposition to bigotry, or sign on to policies that add to the burden of ordinary Americans, we have abandoned our true values. We can win elections only by standing up for what we believe. There are no red states or blues states, only American states."

"We created TRUE BLUE in order to put values into action," said Jack Nokes, another Project organizer and a longtime supporter of humanitarian efforts. "Profits from sales of the bands will be directed toward helping Americans hurt by the policies of President Bush and his administration - one person at a time."

The TRUE BLUE Project is a grassroots organization committed to helping individuals who have been adversely affected by the policies of the current administration. Individuals who wish to request financial assistance may tell their story by contacting The TRUE BLUE Project at info@trueblue-american.com .

TRUE BLUE wristbands can be ordered online at http://www.trueblue-american.com for $1 each, plus shipping and handling. "The more bands we sell, the more people we can help," said Nokes.

To contact the True Blue Project email George Traugott at gtraugott@austin.rr.com or call 512-636-1570.

2. I was disappointed to find that my "Truth" blue band is made in
China. I'm still wearing it because it gives me an opportunity to inform others about "*". I just wish we could find bands made in the U.S. Talk about outsourcing!!

3. No kidding.
And c'mon, they're a buck. Say it would cost twice that to buy American - BIG WHOOP! To keep with the "blue" values, it should be union-made here in the USA.
