CBS should investigate the Armstrong Williams payola scandal
After all, FOX would do the same for them. In recent days, we have seen the cable networks, CNN and FOX in particular, come down on Dan Rather and CBS as being somewhat "unethical". I think CBS would do themselves a service and the nation a service if they turned the tables and got to the bottom of this scandal. And it is a "scandal".

1. I agree, but somehow going after Bush supporters might make them
gun shy.

5. I don't think they want to be Anthraxed again
I can't think of any other reason for them to not investigate it.

3. I think CBS has been neutered.
Whether it was an inside or an outside job has yet to be determined, but that network will behave itself for a very long time.

4. Thank you, Karl Rove
I'm pretty sure he was behind the whole Larry Burkett thing - he knew Bush was in trouble and decided to neutralize the only meadia outlet that could provide a serious threat.
