Why Are They Trying To Soften Junior's Image NOW?
Karen Hugh's had Junior come out with his prefabricated "regrets"
AFTER the election.

Barbara Walter's does an insipid interview AFTER the election.

Why are they trying to soften his image now AFTER the election?

Also, so we'll pay less attention to his coming domestic crimes, which will seem too boring for most to pay attention to after war crimes (even though he'll be doing to us the same thing he's doing to the Iraqis).

Pell Grants - heard his voice and heard the word 'increase' - they virtually demolish it to gain the opportunity to make it sound like they are expanding it? ? ?. Are we hearing backfires?

Maybe Rove isn't totally in charge.

Whatever. Bush is no more human-like to me than he was when he was governor.

Bring it on, Carla Fay.

15. Easiest question ever posed on DU
Now that rethugs control the entire government, they know full well that can take care of every donor and every special interest group with a thousand tiny strokes of pens: one revised agency rule here, one cancelled study or investigation there, and more than a few tiny little clauses burried deep in bills. Even though these little gimmies will pile up to create major consequences, none of them will create so much as a blip on the radar screens of the mainstream media--as long as chimp gets presented as the great concilliator, the great moderator.

Of course, the media will gladly oblige, for they too expect their favors FCC and the House Telecommuniocations Subcommittee. And as GOP radically transforms the country into a robber baron's wonderland, 'mercuns will bask, glassy eyed, in the television glow of our kind and benevolent uniter.

"compassionately" raising payroll taxes AND reducing SS benefits to pay for his beloved war. Believe me he's about to stick a shiv into the American people in a big way. Dem pols had better wise up and get ahead of the curve. These guys have no learning curve.

19. he wants everyone to like him
so there isn't a lot of anti * hatred, egg pelting, stone throwing, invisible crucifix waving, and middle finger flipping going on at his coronation.

i couldn't bring myself to look at him and his prozac queen with barbara walters. especially since i heard that she was gonna ask him if he still thinks we should have invaded iraq and he was going to say absolutely.

no thanks. couldn't stand to look. and besides, it's all a distraction. and i agree with one of the above posters--there's shit in the wind and they want to do their little distraction-dance.

20. lipstick on a pig
he's been asked 3 times (that I recall) if he had any regrets.. each of the previous times he basically shrugged and said "can't think of any"

so now, it's time to show a "kinder gentler" duh-bya. It's the NEW IMPROVEDduh-bya version 2.0

anyone know if Walters was given a script? or if her questions had to be pre-approved?

23. My family
Is mostly (not all obviously) non-christian conservatives, and every single one of them voted against bush. (after voting for Bush I, Regan, Dole, Perot).

They believe:

1) He has utterlly failed on domestic policy (no-deficit, etc.)
2) The christian right scares them. Although usually they vote on economic issues, its getting to the point they would rather have a socialist who was for freedom (they are pro-choice, pro gay rights, etc.)

I don't think my family is unique amongst upper middle class republicans and most small business owners. This move to the religion has cost the R's thousands of dollars in their support, and probably others.

If Bush continues his push rightward, it could cause a wide scale defection -- denying the R's most of their financial support.

He's such a puss...maybe he doesn't want eggs thrown at him during this inauguration fiasco. Can't wait to hear his speech on "FREEDOM"! What freedom? He'll have a legacy alright! History will tell future generations what a monster and a liar this man was! Will it make a difference? Time will tell...

29. Something is up...
In our local paper there was a letter to the editor with the heading "woman regrets voting for Bush". I assumed that she simply realized he was an idiot but when I read the letter I found that she was very irate over the fact that the money donated to the tsunami victims from the U.S. was going through the U.N. Since the right believes the U.N. is evil and thought their president believed so too, they can't understand why he would allow this and the letter writer feels totally betrayed. (She thought our hard earned tax dollars should come directly from the U.S. in the name of Jesus!) Anyway...maybe they are trying to soften his image to pave the way for his betrayals. As someone mentioned on another thread...the right were lead to believe that Roe vs. Wade would be over-turned if Bush is re-elected. When that doesn't happen(I don't believe it will) they are going to be mad.
