1. If they can do seven letters for
P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act, I'm sure it's okay for your initialism to have six. ;-)

3. That's not an acronym.
Edited on Fri Jan-14-05 01:56 PM by kiki
Acronyms have to be pronouncable, like NATO, PATRIOT or, George's favourite, AWOL. "Ab-wuh-muh-cuh-wuh" doesn't really roll off the tongue... :)

You'd have to go for a more European-style acronym using partial words, like "ABWarMCorWhore" or something like that.

5. Exactly - "a WORD".
Edited on Fri Jan-14-05 02:32 PM by kiki
Try pronouncing the word "abwmcw".

There's another word (not "acronym") for an abbreviation that makes an unpronouncable string of letters as opposed to an actual word, but I can't remember what it is... :/

Edit: Sorry AVID. I just enjoy being a smartass... don't take it personably... :)
Anyway, don't you like "abwarmcorwhore"? I thought it was kind of catchy...
