The right-wing propaganda problem extends to religious tv as well.
People tend to forget about this awful BS being programmed into people's houses when they think about the VRWC. Obviously FAUX and right-wing radio and their hijacking of mainstream news both national and local gets talked about alot, but I often am just driven to sickness by the BS that gets broadcast as religious TV. Sometimes I catch this psycho named "Jack Van Impe" or something who's a "left behind" nut. Also, there's a cable channel called "EWTN" which is apparently a catholic propaganda channel, which more often than not flipping through I catch making Faux news look like 60 minutes, when 60 minutes is being journalistic. They had some all night long anti-gay crusade, write congress to defeat gay marriage or some such crap one night.

This stuff drives my secular ass insane.

1. I think it started with those channels
And seeped into Fox and the mainstream. Very disturbing. Tinky Winky will be the death of us!

2. Agreed
I was flipping through the channels last night, and I saw MC Hammer on TBN. That's right, MC Hammer.

And I love that fat guy that screams to high heaven about Harry Potta(in a nice, thick southern accent, with his three chins bobbling back and forth). He's a riot. He's got small feet. It's the funniest thing.

4. MC Hammer spoke at a local mega-church a few months ago.
Same mega-church that had Stephen Baldwin, Jerry Falwell, and other paragons of human goodness. Bleah.

3. I generally fall asleep to the sound of the television...
At night, I might turn down the volume and go back to sleep. Then, in the morning, in that moment of waking up, I have a television program with no sound and it becomes a game to figure out what's on. I swear to you, that I can't tell the difference between religious bully pulpit shows and motivational infomercials. The body language is the same. Just try it.

5. Jack van Impe and the lovely Rexella
They're a joke, not that many people take them all that seriously. He is crazy, the way he links every head line to a scripture. They are from the Detroit area somewhere.

I still think that Robertson and his show are the scariest, because they have better production values and they have that toll free number for phone counseling, which gives it a very personal touch. They are completely biased, and unlike FOX, don't even bother pretending not to be (which, I guess, is at least honest). It's easier to take them seriously.

6. Not to mention Robertson's on the ABC family channel
or whatever it is. Fox family, I can't keep track. But to think that it comes on after or before reruns of Smallville or something is quite something.
