Following the Iowa caucuses, I have updated the delegate count to reflect their results.
Technically, no convention delegates were allocated last night, only delegates to the county caucuses. However, it is a fairly reliable method of calculation IMHO to assign delegates based on the delegate selection factor in each district and at large.
The Iowa delegation to the national convention includes 45 pledged delegates as follows:
29 District Delegates, which are allotted proportionally in each congressional district. The per district allocation is as follows:
CD 1 - 6 delegates
CD 2 - 6 delegates
CD 3 - 6 delegates
CD 4 - 6 delegates
CD 5 - 5 delegates
10 At-Large Delegates, which are allotted proportionally based on the vote in the entire state.
6 Pledged PLEOs, which are allocated in the same way as the at-large delegates.
http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P04/IA-D.phtml#0119According to my calculations, the resultant delegate count in Iowa is as follows:
Dean Edwards Kerry
At-Large 2 4 4
Pledged PLEOs 1 2 3
1st District 1 2 3
2nd District 1 2 3
3rd District 0 3 3
4th District 1 3 2
5th District 1 2 2
Totals 7 18 20
The district-level tally for the caucuses can be found at
http://209.234.69.20/district-wide.shtml .
Added to the Superdelegate count (based on but not exactly the same as
http://www.grumpyoldbear.com/Superdelegates.htm ), with Gephardt's tally removed due to his withdrawal from the race, the total Delegate count now reads as follows:
Clark Dean Edwards Kerry Kucinich Lieberman Sharpton Uncommitted
Superdelegates 24 70 10 60 2 18 2 640
Iowa 7 18 20
Totals 24 77 28 80 2 18 2 4115
