Swiftboat ad firm picked up Boston contract last month
I guess it is the goal of all good PR firms to get on the taxpayer's wallet....especially in places where John Kerry hangs out ....

snip...

The totally tone-deaf folks over at the Turnpike Authority always seem to think that if you hire enough public relations folks somehow things will get better. It must be beyond their powers of comprehension that somehow performance is what counts.

So the genuises did it again, this time hiring Alexandria, Va.-based Creative Response Concepts for a three-month ``interim'' deal at a cost of $75,000.

snip...

"For the first time in many a month we find ourself in agreement with Kerry spokesman David Wade who said, ``This is just the latest breathtakingly stupid decision by the Republicans in charge of the Big Dig.''

Wade also raised an interesting question: ``Will the taxpayers get a refund?''

1. If the TPA was just looking for someone who could make a silk purse
out of a sow's butthole they chose well, but they should also have considered the audience. The good Democratic folk of the Bay State aren't as gullible as the hayseeds who fell for the swiftboat liars.
God, I miss living in Blue Country...

5. deminks, that was interesting ...the reason I got on this kick was
on Josh Marshall's blog he was trying to make some connections from the Williams PR firm involved in the NCLB. The same of that firm is Ketchum and I found they were a unit of Omnicom Group.

Ketchum has had some long lucrative government contracts tied directly to Bush Sr. and Jr. and their prospective administrations.

What is amazing is doing a search on pr firms and the Bush administration. He's hired alot of them through the Pentagon to promote the war in Iraq to us and to the Coalition in Iraq. Made me want to gag ...cuz he has really been gagging all of us, hasn't he??

I do believe Williams is only the tip of this proverbial ice berg...

here's a link to the Marshall blog on this, under January 7th entry:

"Everyone has quickly and rightly connected the Armstrong Williams story to earlier instances where the administration used government funds to produce pro-Bush political propaganda. There were the phony news segments produced for the Department of Education to push the No Child Left Behind Act, similar phony news segments produced for HHS to push the new Medicare law, and the Department of Education ratings system devised to rate how different news outlets ranked on No Child Left Behind act orthodoxy and the Republican party's commitment to education.

But there's something else that links all these instances together. They were all contracted through one PR firm: Ketchum.

I don't know anything about the company. Just on a lark, I looked up the political giving of the CEO, Ray Kotcher, and noticed that until 2004 he -- and what appears to be his wife -- seemed to give exclusively to Democrats. In 2004, he had a change of heart, however, and gave $15,000 to RNC. Perhaps it was the war on terror. Who knows?"

7. Thanks for the link
to Josh's site. He has an update from a Times article today - Times of course trying to pooh-pooh the whole thing. I became interested when I saw the Senators' letter to *. I agree that this is just the tip of the iceberg. The TANG possible connection really disturbs me, as do the Iraq and war ones you found. I will post more links as I find them. I wish the Demopedia was up and going! Thanks again! I am just a newbie and very slow!

8. Another TANG/CRC connection article.
Here is a snip from the article:

Some were fed by the conservative Media Research Center and by Creative Response Concepts, the same p.r. firm that promoted the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. CRC’s executives bragged to PR Week that they helped legitimize the documents-are-fake story by supplying quotes from document experts as early as the day after the report, September 9. The goal, said president Greg Mueller, was to create a buzz online while at the same time showing journalists “it isn’t just Rush Limbaugh and Matt Drudge who are raising questions.”

10. Another Swift Boar Liars/CRC/MTA article
Swift Boat Liars blaming politics for their PR firm losing the Big Dig contract:

Snip:

He added that he was troubled by a political dust-up in Kerry's home state last week that may have cost the group's public relations firm, Virginia-based Creative Response Concepts, a contract with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority.
