The Democrats are known as the party that advocates the rights of minority groups. Therefore, the Republicanites think they're being oh, so clever when they nominate the most corrupt, right-wing woman/African-American/Latino/Asian-American/Native American/GLBT person they can find, someone who has an absolutely stinking record.

When the Dems object to this person on the basis of his/her stinkiness, the Republicanites turn around and say archly, "Oh, but we thought you liked minorities. I guess you like minorities only if they toe your liberal line." (Italicized words spoken with the sneer turned up a notch).

I've seen that tactic so many times (most notoriously with the nomination of Clarence Thomas) that I almost expect it.

We liberals know unqualified candidates when we see them, irregardless of skin color.
