Everybody get out their kleenex - Poor Jebbie has lost $$ being Gov

Jeb trip to Asia seen by some as sign of Bush '08

Some analysts say his last name is more handicap than help for an otherwise leading contender.

By ADAM C. SMITH, Times Political Editor
Published January 7, 2005

It took only seconds for ushers to yank away the unauthorized "Jeb! '08" placards that popped up in Madison Square Garden during last summer's Republican National Convention.

The last thing the Bush-Cheney campaign needed at that point was buzz about a third President Bush waiting in the wings.

..cut...

--The former real estate broker and salesman's finances have taken a beating since moving to Tallahassee, with his reported net worth dropping from $2.35-million in 1997 to $1.46-million last year. His annual income fell from $712,000 in 1997 to $123,000 last year.

..cut... more at the St. Times.....

Free house... Free food....Free airplanes.... free cars....

Plus 123,000 spending money.......... Not bad.... IMHO

5. let me guess who they are talking about...
Despite all that, Internet message boards have popped up to promote Jeb Bush for president, and a number of Republican columnists have pushed the prospect recently.

6. His wealth came from brother Neil anyway
Silverado, $3 mil loan for $500,000 building, S & L collapse, appraisal, Jeb pays back $500,000, puts $2 mil in pocket, all is forgiven.

7. Okay...lemme get this straight...
...Jeb's lost money during his brother's marvelous economy?

Hmmmmmm...only two possiblities I see to explain this.

1) His brother's economy SUCKS so badly even Jeb couldn't improve his net worth.

OR

2) He (the 'smart one') isn't so smart after all. If he were, he certainly could have done better than this story reports.

There is, of course, a third option.

Both Statements above are Correct.

9. Most politicians take pay cuts to serve.
Personally, I think we should pay all congresspeople at least one million and all senators and govenors at least 5 million per year.

Lots of our best and brighest simply don't serve their country because they can make so much more in the private sector.
