Prediction: Howard Dean will become the DNC chair
Obviously there is a stop Dean movement within the Democratic party, as we can see from some of the ...intricate post on DU. However I think within the Stop Dean movement there's a faction that doesn't want him to run for president in 2008, and the best way to do that is by having Howard Dean as DNC chair. The Stop Dean movement is not united, they're ambivalent.

Ironically, perhaps the division in the Stop Dean movement will help put Howard Dean as the chair of the DNC.

YEEAAARRRGGGGGGGGGG

1. The Stop Dean movement isn't workin' out so good
They have what, somewhere around 7 candidates? 7 candidates vs. one Dean. Apparently, voting members of the DNC currently prefer Dean, and are split among the rest of the candidates.

Of course, just because all signs point to a winner doesn't mean that person will win (NOVEMBER2NDWTF?!).

2. Just Curious, why not Joe Trippi? He's a great fundraiser and motivator
Why not save Dean for other things?

4. Trippi
is another consultant, nothing more. It would be a huge confict of interest for him to be chair. And there is a lot of money missing from the Dean campaign. Governor Dean fired him for a reason.

9. Trippi would be good to put in charge of areas like the Internet (that was
his baby, not really Dean's)but I doubt he would be interested. But not Trippi as Chair.

Although we could argue he needs to for the sake of the country. Pretty, pretty, please with a cherry on top.

14. trippi is good but has no style
Edited on Thu Dec-09-04 09:21 PM by ProudToBeLiberal
I mean the DNC chair has many jobs and one of his many jobs is "press secretary." I have seen trippi like on MSNBC and he has no whatsoever "mojo" with public image at all and presentation. I mean Trippi is good, there's no doubt about it but we need the 2 SS-Substance and Style.

I have to admit I miss his pepsies :(

but he's not a must for the survival of the DNC. He's not the only talented Democrat.

6. I think he'd be a natural for the job.

But I don't think he'll take it unless he gets backing from the party for substantial change.

I'm not convinced the party can be changed from the top down and Dean might be able to accomplish more presiding over the growth of DFA and reforming the party from the bottom up.

And like other supporters, I don't want him waiving his option to run in 2008.

13. if he's the Chair and works on changing the party from the top down,
and we in the grassroots work on changing the party from the bottom up, i think it would be the quickest and most efficient way of reinvigorating the party, and bringing it to where it needs to be; it really sounds like a match made in heaven to me. of course he can accomplish more as DNC Chair from inside the party, with us backing him and with the resources and clout that would be available to him, than he could accomplish from outside. i guess that just seems obvious to me, even if it does sound too good to be true.

12. They will just appoint another DLC/DNC/RNC repug lite
If Dean wants to help he needs to take his ball and go home. That is he needs to start right now a third party which will give us time to set up a strong org by 2006 and be fully functional by 2008. We need a real democratic party not repug lite. If we're going to lose let's at least loose as Dem's not trying to be fake repug's. Until they return to the core beliefs of the Dem party and stop plying nice and start handing the fascists their heads I'll not spend another dollar to help the national party. Until the DLC is purged from the party and sent back to the repug party, we're wasting our time. The Dem's wont lose a single vote by returning to it's founding principles, as Dr. Dean notes, we'll gain the votes of people who will be voting for something instead of voting for the less terrible candidate. The DLC'ers will vote repug anyway as they always have, it's just been a scam to divide the party and suppress the real Dem's from voting. If we stand and fight, call a fascists a fascists, and outline what we stand for the thugs won't stand a chance. We're going to have to start local and beat the fuddies to death by exposing their bigotry, hatred and hypocritical speech and shine the light of truth on them, without calling them "my worthy appointite" or "the honorable gentleman" because they are neither.

16. I like Dean for DNC chair.
He's proven his ability to leverage the internet to fundraise and organize. He's got the electoral creds of knowing what it's like to run and govern.

The 2006 midterms are the next critical juncture for this country. I liked Dean's unique decision to champion selected races in November....I think as DNC chair he'll influence and imprint the values we need in the next generation Democrats. YEEEEEEAREEGGGG!
