This bill could have been stopped, I think. Why did they do this, knowing the language that was in there. Surely they do not trust Frist on this.

1. And people get offended when I say that Clinton and Schumer
are Republicans in Democrat clothing.

Vote for Hilary in 2008? Not bloody likely!

21. I've been voting on the Working Families line
One of the great things that NY has is allowing third parties to cross endorse candidates. It allows liberals to vote for Democrats when necessary while sending the Democratic Party the signal that the voters are not happy with what the party is doing.

So this election, I voted straight Working Families line. That happened to be the same candidates as the Democratic line, but the Democrats know when they see the vote tallies that some of us endorse a much further left agenda than they've been pushing. In other words, given a viable left liberal candidate, I'm outta here, Dem Party!

45. They've got me pissed off too
Schumer voted for that obscene corporate tax giveaway just a week before the election and voted to confirm Porter Goss- he is really ticking me off. Clinton at least voted against Goss, but this crap sickens me.

4. we cant even get more than half
of the Democrats to vote against this? I am in complete disgust but not surprised. One more reason to vote Green at the local level. If the Dems can't be cleaned up we need to start building a new progressive party from the ground up.

32. The day after the Medicare bill passed
w/Wyden's aye vote, I shot out several emails to him and two Dem Oregonian e-groups.

I received numerous replies from the groups telling me to "get over it". I received nada from Wyden.

One year later, Wyden got nada from me. I voted for Teresa Keane.

3. What the...????
What is the matter with these people?! Thank God my two Senators both voted against it, but jeez...

Anyone with the 6 Repub Nay-voters: please call them to thank them for showing some sense of fiscal responsibility.

The Yea-voting Dems? Call them and give 'em hell!

Had they not voted for this, it would not have passed the Senate. And this is why Daschle deserved to lose.

15. Actually, that is not right
The debt ceiling bill was earlier in the week. Yesterday (Saturday) the vote was on the Omnibus Appropriations Bill. THis bill specifically included abortion resolutions that would allow health care providers that received government funds the right to refuse to perform abortion procedures as well as provide any guidance towards birth control.

I think it was the Appropriations Comm. chair has the right under a hidden provision in the law to request any citizen's tax return. Also, any staffer of his can request it.

And there was one other outrageous provision that I forget.

That comes out of the Bush Peoples mouths, this is how they went to war in Iraq lies.

Any Democratic Senator who believed them was crazy as hell and do not belong in the Senate, we have had government shut downs over smaller issues than this. Weak they were Weak and stupid. Besides I don't know how many people realize this but this is the first actual Omnibus Spending Bill to make it out of the House and Senate in 2 years and nothing shut down! This was a sneaky sneaky thing, and it will not be good for this country mark my words.

28. 2005 Omnibus appropriations bill. Can't find Senate name.
Edited on Sun Nov-21-04 10:22 PM by madfloridian
Catchall 2005 appropriations. The House approved, 344-51, and sent to the Senate the conference report on a bill (HR 4818) providing $388 billion in fiscal 2005 spending for all cabinet-level departments except Defense and Homeland Security, whose budgets already have been enacted. The bill provides small increases or freezes for most domestic programs in such areas as education, the environment, housing, agriculture, medical research and law enforcement. The bill funds foreign operations at slightly increased levels.

A yes vote was to pass the bill.

It also had something about abortion in it. Someone had it posted here but not with the yea nay votes.

No excuse for this.

35. Not sure why some dems voted yes on this, but....
I've knocked on my very last door and made my very last phone call for Patty Murray, that's for sure. She voted for that corporate giveaway in late October, too. So did Cantwell. They're both off my list.

Take note Democratic representatives and senators:

You are hereby put on notice that EVERY VOTE you make will be scrutinized by us, the people you work for, the people who put you there, the people whose principles and priorities you are supposed to reflect.

You may not have wanted to work the week before Thanksgiving, but WE ALL WORK the week before Thanksgiving, and many of us donated that week's worth of wages to YOU. So we've got some expectations. Democrats are a minority in both houses, and as such, there is only one way to make a difference. Vote on principle.

We are watching.
