"Homey, folksy" Bush gets a YACHT in his new Man Date spending bill
Edited on Sat Nov-20-04 11:19 PM by Bluebear
Sailing, sailing! The Man Date President gets a Presidential yacht on our dime.

The spending bill some of our Democratic senators voted FOR tonight includes "A potential boon for Bush himself, $2 million for the government to try buying back the former presidential yacht Sequoia. The boat was sold three decades ago, and its current owners say the yacht is assessed at $9.8 million and are distressed by the provision."

1. Disgusting
Tonight was not at all encouraging. Reid has got to go! Fuck the DLC 3rd way - it has a track record of destroying our party.

A "reaching out" kind of cruise down the Potomac.

I encourage DUers to use it. If this isn't a nice juicy steak for us, than what isn't?

10. Jeezus save me
It's already available for his exclusive use:
The Sequoia Presidential Yacht is a meticulously restored, 104-foot, 1925 Trumpy-designed yacht that has served Presidents since Herbert Hoover. The yacht is a national historic landmark that is available for exclusive charters in Washington, D.C. (when it is not used by the President or Vice President)

http://www.sequoiayacht.com/

It's just in private hands, which is exactly the way Republicans supposedly want things to be.

20. Sounds like the owners don't want to sell
What is the government going to do, seize it and tell them to be happy with the 2 million when it's worth 10?

I hope the owners raise a stink about this. The DEMS sure don't care!

21. Have any Democrats blasted this on the Sunday AM talk-shows?
Is this a giant softball just waiting to be knocked out of the park?

Will the Dems swing for the fences or will they do what they normally do - try to bunt for a base-hit and end up popping out to the pitcher?

Will they ever get a clue?

We'll have to wait and see...
